Job Summary
The Risk Analyst reporting to the Manager, Risk Control will be a significant contributor to the Risk Analytics function and will be responsible for PNL Reporting, Identifying and Defining Market Risk, Measuring and Assessing market Risks & PNL, Providing Guidance or Information Required to Optimally Mitigate Risk, Monitoring and Reporting.
Essential Functions
PNL Reporting
•Reporting and explaining Exposure Position and Mark to Market PNL on a daily basis on an aggregate and operating group level
•Enhance and design more efficient ways of reporting Exposure Positions and PNL
•Participate in reviewing, researching, and developing material for the Risk Committee
•Participate in various audits as needed
Identifying and Defining Market Risk
•Develop methods to better model and calibrate natural gas transportation and storage assets as well as assess the impact of weather on retail contracts.
•Help commercial team develop optimization targets based on the models and forward price outlook.
•Assist in periodic review and validation of pricing and risk models.
Measuring and Assessing Market Risks & PNL
•Aid in research, development and enhancement of market risk models and methodologies.
•Work with Commercial and Product Control teams to ensure products and deals are properly reflected in ETRM system.
•Validate system inputs including price curves and deal entry to ensure the proper calculation of Value at Risk (VaR), Mark-to-Market (MTM), and Profit and Loss results.
•Participate in the design and management of strategic projects around asset management agreement modelling
•Act as a key member in deal valuation and review efforts with risk team members
Providing Guidance or Information Required to Optimally Mitigate Risk
•Apply stochastic and econometric techniques to support methodology development and validation.
•Perform back-tests, stress tests, scenario analyses and sensitivity studies.
Monitoring and Reporting
•Monitor and explain changes in VaR and MTM (both cash month and forward) daily.
•Report and Present to Risk Management Committee, as needed.
•Develop and enhance reporting around fixed price, basis, and index premium risk.
•Monitor and explain changes in market exposures.
•Optimize use of ETRM (Endur)
•Liaise with IT to improve reporting from Endur.
•Monitor, manage, and report on FCM account.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification/Experience
•Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics or other related field from an accredited college or university is required.
•Advanced Degree in Finance preferred.
•2 years of professional work experience in risk management, energy or commodities trading preferred.
•2 years or more natural gas or energy related experience preferred.
•PRM (Professional Risk Manager), CFA (Certified Financial Analyst) or similar certification(s) preferred.
•Experience with Endur (or similar ETRM system), strongly preferred.
•Experience with Tableau, preferred.
•Experience building advanced Excel-based models to analyze data required.
•Experience with coding and query writing preferred.

•Able to operate office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, mobile phones, photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.

•Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time as required by job responsibilities.
•Proficient in speaking, reading, and comprehending the English language.
•Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Working Conditions
•Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload, including the possibility of working beyond standard hours and on nights/weekends to meet deadlines.
•Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether it is an open office, cubicle or private office.
•Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight, and to attend meetings and conferences, when required.
