Position Title: Risk Analyst

Position Purpose
This position is responsible to apply knowledge of risk management principals and insurance to support Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC), its subsidiaries, the Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP), and the Bighorn Limestone Company. The incumbent assists the Director of Risk and Insurance in developing policy relative to the management of non-medical pure risk. This position also assists in the identification and analysis of funding alternatives and risk control activities.
Essential Functions
•Compile and analyze underwriting data for insurance program renewals.
•Participate in the annual insurance renewal process, including the formulating of limits, layers, terms, and conditions of the insurance program. Receive and check all insurance policies for accuracy, and update RMIS database.
•Allocate premium payments across all lines of insurance.
•Participate in the claims handling process, settlement strategy, investigative process, and reserve setting; assist with the negotiations with insurance claims personnel; and assist with the loss recovery process against third parties.
•Coordinate certificate of insurance requests and vendor certificate of insurance program ensuring data is accurate and available for field use.
•Coordination of loss prevention inspection visits and response to loss prevention reports from insurance companies.
•Assist with the coordination of workers compensation activities for the Cooperative.
•Assist in the preparation of operational and risk reports for management analysis.
•Assist in the development of procedures and policies regarding risk management and makes recommendations for the adoption of such policies.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in risk management and insurance or a business-related field; and 3 years of property and casualty insurance related experience, or
•High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 7 years of property and casualty insurance experience.
•A valid Driver’s license.
•Associate in Risk Management or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter professional designation, preferred.
•Knowledge of property and casualty insurance, claims adjustment and risk analysis.
•Able to analyze data and reports, conduct research, implement recommendations, develop plans, procedures, and goals; and present information to others.
Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands
This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position and to move about the office building, occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, constant use of a keyboard/computer and other office productivity machinery, bending, kneeling lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination.
