Your Impact
As an Engineer Geotechnical Open Pit (OP), you will enhance mining strategies and designs through rockmass characterization, training, and data integration. Your expertise will drive safe and efficient operational decisions.
As Part of Our Team You Will
Deliver results from monitoring systems.
Train mine personnel on wall reconciliation and interpretation of results.
Execute comprehensive characterization of rockmass properties.
Prepare models to predict rockmass behavior under different mining conditions.
Supervise exploration teams to collect geotechnical logs and samples.
Implement rockmass data into mine planning software.
Assess changes in rockmass properties and maintain characterizations.
Liaise cross-disciplinary discussions to incorporate rockmass insights into operational decisions.
Prepare methodologies and results from rockmass characterization studies.
Prerequisites for Your Success in This Role
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related fields.
Advanced proficiency in geotechnical engineering, rockmass characterization, and mine planning software.
Experience with geotechnical logging systems and rockmass behavior modeling.
Strong analytical skills and ability to make effective decisions.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Self-awareness and adaptability in behavior to suit context and circumstances.
Your Work Environment
You will work in a collaborative and dynamic environment, interacting with internal stakeholders across disciplines. You will supervise and liaise with exploration teams, geotechnical engineers, and mine planners to ensure accurate data collection and integration. The role requires a commitment to safety and continuous improvement in mining strategies and designs. This position is based in Denver, CO, but location flexible within Newmont North America region.

The salary range offered for this role is USD $102,000 to 133,875 USD. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
