Brooks & Nelson’s client is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for guiding geotechnical portions of all technical studies. This position requires strong technical and leadership skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment providing geotechnical expertise in underground and surface construction environments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
•Provide ongoing geotechnical oversight for mining studies (Feasibility, Detailed Design, and Construction).
•Evaluate mine plans, designs and trade-off studies
•Oversee underground and surface geotechnical data collection programs and manage the consultants who are analyzing and recommending solutions.
•Project and study management.
•Supervising, training, and mentoring of geotechnical team.
•Providing geotechnical guidance and expertise to transition Santa Cruz from project stage to construction, including: developing ground control management plans, recommending and installing necessary ground monitoring instruments, designing drilling and/or laboratory testing programs, developing and managing budgets
•Demonstrate awareness and commitment to health, community and environmental protection and takes action to ensure that unsafe practices or noncompliant behaviors do not occur.
•Inform, involve, and engage key internal and external stakeholders appropriately.
•Manage contractors and sub-contractors on projects (as required).
QUALIFICATIONS
•An advanced degree in geological engineering or a related field/ registration as a licensed professional engineer or similar registration as a qualified person.
•Minimum of 15 years of operational underground hard rock mining/engineering/geotechnical experience.
•Proficiency with geotechnical block modeling and numerical modeling software and techniques.
•Authorization to work lawfully in the United States is required.
•Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in writing RFP, technical reports, and general project correspondence.
