Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be part of the Technical Services Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Conducting daily inspections of general conditions for pit and waste dump slopes
•Generate technical reports as required
•Generate and update SOPs associated with ground control as required
•Inspect and sign off on wall compliance and slope design
•Prepare weekly ground control plans, monthly hazard maps, risk analysis and risk mitigation
•Collection and compilation of geotechnical data via mapping, photogrammetry, core logging, and visual observation
•Perform wall and bench reconciliation and wall control blast performance assessment
•Plan and manage ground support and geotechnical hazard remediation projects
•Review and interpret monitoring data and assist with development of monitoring systems on the site
•Assist with development and updating geotechnical models
•Perform geotechnical investigations and inspections
•Confirm ground control plans are being followed in the field
What You Need To Succeed
•Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering or Mining Engineering with a specialization in geotechnical engineering and/or rock mechanics
•Eligible for registration as an EIT or Professional Engineer in Ontario
•Mapping and core logging experience is considered an asset
•Familiarity with geological, mine planning, and Rocscience equivalent software are considered an asset
•Experience in wall control blast and open pit ground control is considered an asset
•Experience working at a remote mine site is considered an asset
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint
Your Work Schedule
•Schedule: 14/14 schedule at our Detour Lake Mine
•Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada
