TYME is currently initiating a search for a Geotechnical Engineer based out of our Livonia, Michigan office. The successful candidate will provide support to TYME’s project managers responsible for delivering geotechnical engineering projects to our clients. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in engineering fundamentals, with an emphasis on geotechnical/geological/civil engineering; excellent interpersonal skills; written and verbal communication skills; and will be a proactive problem solver.
Responsibilities
•Assist with geotechnical work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work activities including driller acquisition, scheduling and coordination, traffic control coordination, permitting, utility locating, boring layout, surveying, etc.
•Provide geotechnical field investigation oversight.
•Geotechnical laboratory testing assignment, supervision of laboratory staff and assisting with the performance of laboratory testing as needed.
•Perform basic design engineering computations and support, including foundation design, settlement analysis, slope stability, etc. under the guidance of a senior engineer.
•Prepare geotechnical design reports under the guidance of a senior engineer.
•Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements.
•Maintain safety standards and procedures insuring a safe field, laboratory and office work environment.
•Work with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
•Complete training on assigned tasks.
•Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement, and development projects.
•Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to TYME’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
•Perform additional responsibilities as required by project and business needs.
•Travel to project sites in Michigan.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
•1 to 5 years of relevant post education experience
•EIT certification, or the ability to obtain the EIT certification within 1 year of hire.
•Must pass pre-employment drug screening, background and motor vehicle record checks.
•Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
•Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and prioritization of responsibilities skills to meet project deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
•Proficient self-leadership and the ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet project and business objectives.
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
•Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by TYME’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
•Ability to work schedules that are conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
Preferred Qualifications
•Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
•Geotechnical software and CADD experience.
