The Opportunity

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Temporary Red Seal Millwright at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7 schedule, Day shift / Night shift.

Position Temporary Red Seal Millwright Location

Copper Mountain Mine is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors. Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary

Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Supervisor, the Red Seal Millwright will provide full oversight of preventative maintenance services and repairs, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and creation of service plans. Troubleshooting will take place in the field and the shop as required and as determined by the maintenance supervisor.

Responsibilities

- Performs mechanical preventative maintenance and repairs working within the Mill Maintenance team,

- Works safely to repair and maintain all milling equipment within the mill building, internal and external tailings system equipment, and pumping systems for underground water and freshwater supply,

- Performs any other responsibilities related to the Red Seal Millwright role as required or as assigned by the department head.

Education & Experience

- Red Seal Millwright Certification,

- At least 1 year of industrial experience, preferably in mining,

- Experience with SAG and Ball mills, conveyors, and gyratory crushers is an asset,

- Welding experience would be considered an asset,

- Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.

- Possess strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills,

- Possess a solid mechanical ability/aptitude,

- Self-motivated and able to work alone or with minimal supervision,

- Required to meet pre-employment testing requirements.

Working Conditions

- Frequent exposure to uncomfortable conditions associated with the work environment such as working in noisy and dusty environments,

- Repeated exposure to vibrations, and chemicals, and will often require working alone with minimum supervision,

- Work includes working in heavy industrial environments; this may have conditions that include adverse temperature conditions, both hot and cold; in and/or around moisture; walking on slippery and/or rough, uneven surfaces, in confined spaces; at heights; and involves climbing ladders and stairs,

- Exposure to working outdoors in all weather conditions, operating a light vehicle at our operations, in various weather conditions and terrain, including winter driving,

- Regular exposure to lifting and moving items and equipment up to 50 pounds,

- Work requires to be clean-shaven.

Rate of Pay

$56.87 / hr.
