Job Summary

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Journeyman Electrician plays a crucial role in supporting the construction process of a renewable energy project.

Your primary responsibility is to complete all construction tasks associated with your projects safely, efficiently, and according to the prescribed plans and specifications. Your specific responsibilities include:

Specific Responsibilities:

- Project Planning: The Journeyman Electricians collaborates with the construction Manager and engineers to support the development of a construction plan, including timelines, resource allocation, and coordination with various stakeholders.

- Site Preparation: They support the Construction manager in the site preparation activities, which may include clearing land, leveling terrain, and ensuring compliance with environmental and safety regulations.

- Construction Oversight: The Journeyman electrician will be supported in planning by the Construction Manager, but will be responsible for supporting fellow workers, including apprentices, laborer's, and engineering team members. From time to time, when the Construction Manager is not onsite, The journeyman electrician may act as the point of contact for the crew and be responsible for making workmanship and installation decisions.

- Quality Control: They are responsible for maintaining quality standards throughout the construction process. This involves conducting inspections, verifying the installation of solar panels, electrical components, mounting systems, and ensuring adherence to industry standards and local codes.

- Safety Management: The electrician prioritizes safety on the construction site. They follow safety protocols, participate in safety meetings, and comply with occupational health and safety regulations. They may also perform or oversee safety audits and risk assessments.

- Progress Reporting: Regularly updating the Construction Manager on the progress of construction activities, including milestone achievements, potential delays, and any issues that may arise during the construction process.

- Problem Solving: Addressing any construction-related challenges, resolving conflicts, and making decisions to ensure the smooth progress of the project while collaborating with the rest of the project team to resolve technical issues or revise plans as needed.

- Documentation and Compliance: Supporting the keeping accurate records of construction activities, including daily logs, inspection reports, change orders, and any necessary permits or regulatory documentation. Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations.

- Communication and Coordination: Effectivly communicate with construction and office staff. Maintain a positive supportive attitude fostering learning for less experienced employees, and being willing to learn new skills from others as this is a rapidly evolving industry.

- Project Completion: Supporting the final stages of construction, such as system testing, commissioning, and handover to the Customer Experience team.

Qualifications:

Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate Required

Willing to travel throughout Atlantic Canada

Experience in low and medium voltage terminations

Willingness to learn and adhere to the highest standards of safety

Pay: $33.00-$38.00 per hour
