We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team supporting the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Enhancement (OMEE) program for Naval Health Clinics at Groton, CT; Newport, RI; and Portsmouth, NH. This role focuses on electrical system maintenance, repairs, and testing in medical treatment facilities, ensuring compliance with healthcare standards (e.g., TJC, NFPA) and DoD regulations. The position is based out of Groton but requires travel to all three sites for preventive maintenance (PM), unscheduled repairs, and emergency response. Ideal candidates thrive in a dynamic, mission-critical environment and have experience in healthcare or DoD facilities Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on electrical Real Property Installed Equipment (RPIE), including distribution panels, transformers, generators (e.g., 450 kW at Newport), disconnect switches, lightning protection systems, and fire alarm-related electrical components.
- Conduct annual infrared (IR) surveys on electrical systems to detect hotspots and prevent failures, per PWS para 2.11.2 and NFPA 70-B.
- Respond to emergency service calls within 1 hour, troubleshooting and repairing issues like power outages or faulty wiring in critical healthcare areas.
- Support unscheduled work via service orders.
- Participate in weekly progress meetings and comply with safety protocols (e.g., Activity Hazard Analyses per EM 385-1-1).
- Travel between sites (Groton base; ~1-hour drive to Newport, ~2 hours to Portsmouth) to cover electrical needs, coordinating with site Facility Managers
- Assist with commissioning new electrical installations and ensure 100% PM compliance for critical RPIE.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; minimum 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance for healthcare facilities (e.g., hospitals/clinics) or commercial buildings. 5+ years overall electrical experience preferred.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid Journeyman Electrician license in CT (primary); licenses or ability to obtain in RI and NH required. Certifications in NFPA 70/70E, IR thermography (Level I), and low-voltage systems. Must complete DoD Cyber Awareness Challenge and OPSEC training within 30 days.
- Skills: Proficient in electrical troubleshooting, IR scanning, and systems like emergency generators and fire alarms. Familiarity with DMLSS/LogiCole, TJC standards, and UFC 3-501-01. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or in teams.
- Security and Health: Pass background checks, health screenings, and maintain OSHA DART rate compliance. U.S. citizenship required for base access.
