SPECIAL NOTE There will be a knowledge-based test covering blueprint reading, a measurement assessment for fraction, decimal inch, metric as well as interpreting common welding process checks/flaws. 100% knowledge over all is not mandatory but some knowledge over all is required.
Must be able to read/interpret blueprint drawings, assembly schematics (see above special note)
Must be able to do simple math and use hand-held and digital measuring tools (fraction, decimal inch, metric) (see above special note)
Must have high attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
Understanding of material (ex. A36, A588, A606, A387, etc.) properties/material thickness/types
Must be a team player, have reliable transportation
Must be willing to 40hrs weekly with some overtime as needed
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF and Windows based operating system desired. You will be using Excel and Adobe daily.
Perform in-process inspection and final inspection of completed parts. Must have the ability to notice flaws/deficiencies in finished products/materials. High attention to detail required.
Report/Issue non-conformances for parts that do not meet tolerance
Conduct magnetic particle testing (MPT) as needed. You will eventually obtain a certification for this process.
Daily collaboration with Operations Manager, Project Manager, Shop Supervisor and Quality Manager
The technical skills ensure that products/parts meet quality standards. The quality inspector must understand the relevant blueprints, technical documents and manuals. This can be taught as well if the right candidate meets other qualifications.
Regularly required to stand and move about the facility
Inspections are performed in a steel fabrication environment
Exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, chemical and other elements
Maintain day-to-day production activities by performing setups and production rates as needed to maintain customer satisfaction
Ensure completed products/parts meet blueprint specs with ability to pass quality control inspection
Strive to look for and identify ways to streamline workflow and improve efficiency in your role. Suggestions for continual improvements are welcome and expected
Detect/report defective/questionable materials/parts to the quality control or operations manager
Maintain work area/equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
