Premiere metal working and assembly company is seeking qualified Quality Inspectors. The ideal candidate should have 3+ years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment. This position will require a highly energetic, fully engaged, forward-thinking individual to work with various disciplines within the facility. We are seeking to fill first and second shift positions. First shift runs from 6:00AM - 2:30PM. Second shift runs from 2:00PM - 10:30PM Monday thru Friday, with some overtime available.
The Quality Assurance inspector assures the consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing manufacturing practices and systems and providing the necessary documentation to ensure quality excellence. The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products manufactured or produced by a company meet specific quality standards and are free from defects. They will work with manufacturing or production teams to inspect products at various stages of the production process, from raw materials to finished goods, and ensure that they adhere to regulatory and company quality standards.
The Quality Inspector will perform the quality activities described throughout the manufacturing plant as necessary. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Inspection of incoming and outgoing products and materials to engineering specifications using basic test and measuring equipment.
· Ability to work with handheld gauges, such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, pin gauges, thread gages, etc. Ability to work with an optical comparator.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical, weld, and sheet metal drawings.
· Ability to measure parts and determine if they meet specifications. Inspect the first part against each measurement as indicated on print. Verify acceptable tolerance. Indicate completed inspection on corresponding inspection record.
· Choose and check the calibration of inspection equipment to be used.
· Perform visual and dimensional inspection of purchased parts, tight tolerance machined parts, stamped and fabricated parts, components, assemblies, and materials.
· Perform first article inspection, incoming, in-process and final inspections on new and revised parts.
· Document non-conforming product when detected. Attach Red Tag and/or Red NC tags to the non-conforming product.
· Timely completion of all paperwork associated with the position including NC tags. Complete and maintain all documentation per customer and/or internal requirements.
· Receives understands and follows all written and oral instruction.
· Work with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent defects from occurring.
· Contributes to team, company and QMS goals by initiating continuous improvement, accomplishing related results as required and working effectively with other employees and departments.
Must have measurement skillset and knowledge of Height Gage, Pin Gage, Optical Comparator, Blueprint Reading
· 3+ Years of experience performing close/tight tolerance mechanical inspections
· Experience with Metal Fabrication (Laser Cutting, Waterjet, Forming, Welding and Assembly Processes)
· Due to the nature of this work the candidate MUST be a US Citizen
· Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve quality issues
· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
· Strong communication and team-building skills are a must
· Strong Computer Literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
· Certification in quality assurance, such as Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar credentials, is a plus
· Possess the ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment of this position is generally performed in an indoor environment in a well lit and ventilated area. This position is required to work around high-speed machinery and equipment and requires the use of safety glasses. Candidates must stand for much of the workday. This position may require overtime and shift changes. There is exposure to machine oil, metal filings, unpleasant odors and noise. Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy and safety awareness.
