Overview
This position supervises, directs, schedules, plans, participates and assists in assigned operational, mechanical, and electrical tasks and projects in the Pump Station Department; functional areas of responsibility include duties related to the maintenance, repair, and replacement of pump station infrastructure and equipment, including overseeing field operations, site safety (including Kentucky OSHA safety principles, practices, and procedures), productivity, schedule, quality assurance and control, proper documentation of supplemental contractors and suppliers coordination as required. Assist in the implementation of and ensure compliance with specifications and SD1’s Rules and Regulations. Evaluate and determine manpower, materials and equipment required for each pump station task or project. Perform a variety of skilled mechanical and electrical tasks that are usually involved in the maintenance, operation, and repair of pumps, motors, mechanical, and electrical equipment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but not limited to, the following):
· Support 24/7 operations of SD1 force mains, sanitary and flood pump stations, and associated facilities
· Supervises and participates in various operations and maintenance activities at Pump Stations and associated facilities(s); including repair, installation, testing, and inspection of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment
· Establish schedules and methods for pump station maintenance and operations tasks and projects; implement policies and procedures.
· Assign, supervise and review the work of assigned staff in pump station operations and maintenance tasks and projects.
· Monitors and evaluate operations and activities of the pump station maintenance crews.
· Monitors and evaluate operations and activities of the pump station operations employees.
· Plans and recommends equipment, materials, and manpower required for each project.
· Instructs and ensures staff members are practicing safe and efficient operations and maintenance procedures.
· Promotes positive work culture which supports learning, skill development, and team building.
· Orient new employees; counsel performance and address corrective action needs.
· Responds to emergency situations and customer complaints and concerns regarding sanitary pump stations, flood pump stations, and force main work
· Determine work procedures and prepare work schedules prior to the crew departing each morning.
· Issue written and oral instructions to the crew members, as well as giving written and oral reports to members.
· Review crew’s completed daily work orders and reports to verify that all required information has been included and is accurate.
· Assure that all assigned SD1 equipment, tools and vehicles are used or operated according to SD1 safety specifications and that they are properly cared for and maintained.
· Attend regularly scheduled meetings with different personnel from the Pump Stations Department.
· Assist in the implementation of Pump Stations operations and maintenance goals and objectives.
· Visually examine the crew's completed work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to SD1’s construction specifications, policies and procedures.
· Review observations with other crew leaders and report the results to the Pump Station Manager.
· Recommend procedures to improve efficiency within the Pump Stations Department.
· Monitor and assist maintenance crews in completing assigned duties.
· Coach and teach crew members and apply good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
· Perform supervisory responsibilities in accordance with instructions received from the Pump Station Systems Administrator or Manager.
· On request, must be available for the Pump Stations On-Call program for after hour trouble call questions as needed.
· High School diploma or equivalent, preferably higher education with a degree or certification in a related field.
· At least six (6) years of commercial/industrial mechanical or electrical trade experience, including two (2) years lead or supervisory experience
· Proficiency with computers, including experience with uploading files from a computer to a device or piece of equipment.
· Must have extensive knowledge of SD1 pump station operations, and keep up to date on changes in the collection system.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.
