Under general supervision, the Pump Repair Technician performs a wide variety of skilled, high-level duties in the installation, maintenance, repair, and servicing of pumps used in general industrial applications.
· Troubleshoots, disassembles, cleans, and repairs various types of vertical & horizontal centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps and rotating equipment using a combination of power operated, air-driven, and handheld tools.
· Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, parts lists and service manuals.
· Prepares written inspection report of actual findings that will include critical dimensions and recommendations.
· Follows quality control protocols to comply with ANSI and API standards to reduce error.
· Works closely with contractors, vendors, customers, and internal departments.
· Operates heavy equipment including cranes, man lifts, and forklifts.
· Performs welding activities, to include pad welding, tack welding, build-up, and filling; maintains proper levels of materials and supplies.
· Fabricates and modifies parts and equipment, as necessary.
· Operates balance machine to balance pump components according to procedures and specifications.
· Operates sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare pumps and components for paint.
· Operates paint booth to apply protective coatings and paints to pumps and components.
· Follows and complies with all safety rules and regulations, including wearing all necessary PPE required as dictated by the work being performed.
· Maintains and utilizes work areas, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
· Operates company DOT vehicles and provides efficient and safe delivery and pick-up of parts, pumps, tools, etc. while representing the company in a professional manner.
· Operates a wide variety of standard business machines, to include a computer and keyboard, camera, job related software, telephone, calculator, fax machine and photocopier.
· Must be familiar with the replacement of different types of mechanical seals, impellers, shafts, bearings, and associated parts.
· Proficient in the use of Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators, Gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
· Must be familiar with pump fundamentals and rotating equipment operating clearances.
· Laser Alignment/Vibration Analysis experience is a plus
· Proficient in Microsoft Office software, QuickBooks experience is a plus.
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Attention to detail and high standards of quality and cleanliness.
· Must have a valid driver’s license, with no major infractions and be willing to travel occasionally.
· Must be able to pass a 9-panel drug test and background check.
· Must successfully complete lift, crane, forklift, and OSHA training post hire.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; extreme heat (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock.
· The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, occasionally moderate or very loud.
· The employees is occasionally required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· Must be able to lift 50 lbs. multiple times daily unassisted, 75 lbs. assisted, and push or pull 100 lbs. assisted.
· Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods.
