Location: Midland, TX - Field & Office
Ace Resources is seeking a dynamic IC&E Project Planning Specialist to support facility development, power planning, and standardization efforts for a leading oil and gas operator in the Permian Basin. This newly created role reports directly to the Automation Electrical Measurement Superintendent and is responsible for coordinating power infrastructure, generator performance, and PME (Primary Meter Equipment) requests while contributing to facility design and standardization initiatives. The position is based in Midland, TX, and requires occasional travel to field sites across the Permian region.
•Plan and forecast new facility builds to align with operational goals
•Collaborate with regional teams on Bill of Materials (BOM) for facility construction
•Support layout planning for cable trays, PLC racks, and electrical infrastructure
•Develop and maintain standardization documentation for PLC systems and automation devices across the Permian
•Implement monthly power usage tracking and forecasting models to optimize energy consumption and manage costs
•Coordinate with third-party power vendors and utility providers on PME requests and load management, including supporting right-of-way approvals with Land teams
•Track and manage generator usage, maintenance, and performance metrics
•Analyze generator fleet utilization to identify opportunities to reduce costs (e.g. footprint reduction strategies)
•Support bid tracking, procurement processes, and cost analysis
•Create and redline technical drawings and electrical schematics (AutoCAD experience preferred)
•Partner with inspectors, technicians, and engineers to support project execution and design standardization
The ideal candidate has a background in field design for automation and electrical systems, including CAD experience (AutoCAD preferred) and PLC system design. They are detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to manage multiple priorities across office and field settings. A focus on cost optimization, standardization, and process improvement is key.
•Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or related field preferred; relevant experience considered
•Minimum 10 years of experience in IC&E planning, facility buildout, and automation systems
•Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD preferred; Bluebeam also used)
•Strong knowledge of power distribution, generator management, and PME requests
•Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed (50/50 office-field split)
•Must have basic hand tools; higher-end tools and software provided
•Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility for field visits and project demands
•PPE required for field sites (H2S and SafeLand training available)
•Opportunity to shape and define role processes and develop standardization best practices
•Panel interview required (led by Automation, Electrical & Measurement Superintendent, Director of Production, Facilities Engineer, and Operations Manager)
