We are looking for a Project Engineering Specialist. The Project Engineering Specialist provides technical design expertise and supports a wide range of customer-driven projects within the Distribution system, including new electrical services, street and traffic lighting, and infrastructure modifications.
Working in collaboration with the Manager, this role handles design work of varying complexity, offers project management and construction support, and contributes to day-to-day coordination of project intake and execution. The Specialist also works closely with internal teams and external consultants to ensure seamless integration of customer projects into EPC’s Distribution systems.
Major Responsibilities:
•Manage the cost, quality, schedule, and scope of concurrent, multi-stakeholder customer driven projects.
•Ensure EPC Distribution system customer projects are managed to meet the EPC Project Life Cycle requirements.
•Assist with the development and maintenance of the project management processes and tools.
•Monitor and report the status of Customer projects.
•Serve as the project representative for customers, providing a single point of contact.
•Manage all aspects of assigned projects from the initiate phase, through design, construction and project closeout.
•Report project status, change requests, schedule and finances to internal and external customers.
•Assemble cross function project teams to align project scope.
•Act as first line escalation of customer complaints
•Assist with development of Capital business cases, budget development, forecasting and variance explanations.
•Provide day-to-day support to other members of the Customer Projects team in Distribution system project management.
•Provide project management/technical support for distribution customer driven projects.
•Assist with the implementation of process changes and improvements.
•Assess workloads and manage resources.
•Produce high-quality individual contributor work.
•Stay current on industry and professional association best practices and developments.
•Execute projects/programs within the Power Delivery capital plan to meet or beat defined constraints including scope, cost, schedule, EHS and quality.
•Leverage leadership skills to maintain co-operative, motivated, and successful teams to deliver on requirements.
•Provide support to the management team for implementing process changes and improvements.
•Manage and execute Maximo work order statuses and project procurement processes.
Education Required:
•A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institute.
•An appropriate combination of technical education and experience may also be considered.
•Registration, or eligibility to register, as a Professional Engineer or Professional Licensee in Engineering through APEGA (The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta)
Qualifications & Experience:
•Minimum of 5 years of progressive Project Engineering, Project Management or related experience in the execution of relevant projects
•In depth knowledge of the technical requirements of electrical distribution design
•Distribution &/or Street Lighting system design & project management experience
•Engineering and Construction experience in a Utility Environment
•PLS-CADD Software Proficiency is an asset

Location: This role will be part of our hybrid (home and office) work force with office workspace located at ENMAX Place (141 - 50th Avenue SE, Calgary, AB). You will work from home on Mondays and Fridays and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
