About The Role

We are seeking an experienced

Project Manager (Engineering)

to support the

Processing Controls Engineering group

within a leading natural gas utility organization. This role is responsible for delivering

multiple capital projects

tied to

gas facilities and station infrastructure

across transmission and distribution systems.

This is a high-impact role managing

end-to-end project lifecycles

, from engineering and permitting through construction and closeout, within a structured

Stage Gate governance model

.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

- Manage 6–8 concurrent capital projects annually

- Oversee projects ranging from $300K to $2.5M

- Lead full lifecycle delivery:

- Year 1: Engineering & permitting

- Year 2: Construction & execution

- Drive:

- Scope, schedule, and budget performance

- Forecasting, accruals, and financial tracking

- Risk identification and mitigation

- Execute within a 7-stage gate project framework

- Lead cross-functional teams (CFTs) including:

- Engineering

- Project Controls

- Scheduling

- Cost Analysts

- Coordinate contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders

- Deliver status reporting, documentation, and executive updates

- Support field activities including:

- Site walks

- Kickoffs

- Constructability reviews (~3/month)

What a Typical Day Looks Like

- Running project check-ins and CFT calls

- Managing schedules, budgets, and forecasts

- Coordinating with engineering and construction teams

- Preparing for or presenting Stage Gate reviews

- Tracking financials (accruals, estimates, forecasts)

- Aligning stakeholders and resolving project issues

Must-Have Experience

What Will Get You the Job (Key Success Factors)

- Project Management in Natural Gas Utilities

- Transmission, distribution, facilities or station projects

- Proven ability to manage:

- Multiple projects simultaneously

- Full lifecycle delivery (engineering → construction)

- Strong command of:

- Scope, schedule, and cost management

- Financial forecasting and accruals

Highly Preferred

- Experience working for utilities or LDCs such as:

- PG&E, SoCalGas, Southwest Gas, National Grid, Peoples Gas, MidAmerican Energy, Spire, Puget Sound Energy (or similar)

- Familiarity with:

- Stage Gate processes

- Primavera P6

- SAP

- Certifications:

- PMP or PE

- Engineering background (especially in gas systems)
