JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Area Manager, the Project Manager plans, directs, and coordinates, usually through Superintendent or Foreman, activities concerned with the construction of awarded projects. The purpose of this role is to ensure the completion of one or more field projects in accordance with design, specifications, budget, and schedule. This role has responsibility for establishing administrative and technical direction and providing oversight management of assigned field projects. This role works to develop and maintain positive customer relationships to develop new business opportunities, and for maintaining safe and profitable construction projects.
JOB DESCRIPTION
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•Continuing development of Training Matrix Requirements
•Successfully manages projects to meet or exceed the financial projections defined in the project plan.
•Actively supports the achievement of construction goals and objectives. Stays abreast of evolving industry trends and best practices, including new techniques and equipment. Ensures team stays focused on long-range priorities and uses customer feedback to make improvements to day-to-day processes and procedures.
•Prepares the workforce for changing business needs. Maximizes performance and motivation of workforce through modeling innovative and effective management techniques.
•Promotes and protects Bay Cities' values including diversity, teamwork, fair work environment, and respect of others. Maintains a “team” spirit within the business unit. Works and cooperates with other disciplines (across company lines) to maximize use of resources.
•Acts as lead liaison to initiate and maintain contact between clients, estimators, on-site superintendents, or others to facilitate construction activities and maintain a high degree of customer service. Prepares documentation and correspondence to clients pertaining to contracts, project issues, status, or other. Represents the company in project meetings and may attend pre-job meetings with prospective new clients.
•Motivates employees to function as a cohesive unit, oversees regularly planned meetings; develops employees by evaluating performance, providing coaching, training, and mentoring opportunities.
•Identifies and implements growth opportunities in direct reports to build talent development within project team.

•Actively participates in recruiting project management personnel and participates in job fairs and other recruiting events as requested.
•Builds and maintains positive working relationships with customers, union officials, public agencies, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
•Ensures project safety reviews and procedures are followed by conducting weekly safety checks and engaging in safety meetings and monthly review meetings. Supports the safety programs of the project and owner safety programs.
•Review contract documents for all required Project Labor Agreements; prevailing wage determinations; extra work rates; DBE / SBE requirements/goals and Union agreements. Ensure contract administrators are aware of any labor arrangements / extra work rates before project commencement.
•Supports In-House Counsel to prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors

•Develops and manages the project schedule and ensures that the project work is completed according to deadlines and milestones. Turn in monthly CPM schedule updates. Utilize this opportunity to train assistant project managers or project engineers in the nuances of CPM schedules and Primavera P6.
•Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure each area of the project meets the requirements of the project plan and Company quality standards.
•Constantly evaluate project for potential claims. If claim situations arise ensure that all contractual claim timelines are noted and met. Review claims with Area Manager before submission to Owner / General Contractor.
•Meet with Area Manager bi-monthly to assess costs, revenues, extra work reports and projections as project progresses.
•Review and approve project invoices via Spectrum Invoice Approval module.
•Track, quantify, and submit accurate project quantities using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Ensure that all outstanding change proposals, change orders and force account bills are included in monthly progress payment requests.
•Process and document change requests. Follow through with CR process including execution of CCO.
Track and review for exceptions Owner issued CCOs. Submit to Area Manager for execution. See training manual Pursue outstanding CCOs for authorized / completed extra work for payment purposes.
•Documents and tracks extra work to ensure timely payment from Owner / General Contractor. Elevates to Area Manager if extra work ages over 60 days.
•Early recognition and mitigation of project risks or quantity busts.
•Assess projects for Value Engineering opportunities.
•Coordinates timely project closeout: processing outstanding CCOs, change requests, and FA bills; DBE data; final documentation (warranties, waste management profiles, guarantees, operating manuals, etc.)
•Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
•Advanced knowledge of construction industry practices, processes, standards, technology, equipment methods, cost control, schedules, etc. and their impact on project activities.
•Thorough knowledge of construction contracts/law, drawings, and specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
•Demonstrates mastery of and ability to consistently apply BCPG operating standards to work product.
•Advanced knowledge of MS Office products.
•Advanced planning and scheduling skills required. Proven ability to manage project completion on schedule while simultaneously satisfying financial requirements.
•Strong knowledge of project management, accounting, estimating, and scheduling software required. Experience with HCSS, Viewpoint Spectrum, and Primavera P6 preferred.
•Strong interpersonal skills to engage and retain positive working relationships with Clients, subcontractors, field personnel, employees, etc.
•Demonstrates leadership and relationship management skills as well as the ability to identify and resolve problems in field operations and project management.
•Demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects, under tight deadlines with minimal direct supervision.
•Ability to manage a team of varied disciplines. Able to set clear expectations for direct reports regarding role and responsibilities. Able to delegate and assign work to engineering team to progress the project production forward.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to drive.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field required, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
•3+ years’ experience of construction project management
•5+ years’ experience of managing personnel
Salary Range: 125,000 -195,000 - pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
