APA Solar Racking is seeking a hands-on, highly adaptable Project Manager to join our growing Testing Department. This role is integral in supporting our field crews and managing the day-to-day coordination of projects across the U.S. (primarily in the Northeast region). You will help ensure successful deployment and completion of testing operations, provide on-site support, and help drive continual improvement of department procedures and training standards. The Project Manager is a key leader, responsible for ensuring these crews are prepared, well-coordinated, and aligned with APA’s standards and goals.
Scheduling & Logistics: Coordinate and schedule all rental equipment needed by field crews. Manage and track utility tickets for each active project. Oversee securement and readiness of crew loads before deployment. Track crew availability, leave schedules, and project budgets. Monitor project progress in real time and assist in daily planning for each crew.
Procedure Development & Department Standards: Help design and improve operational procedures and deployment standards. Collaborate with the Equipment Control Manager and Maintenance Department to develop consistent practices and maintain equipment integrity. Cross-Department Coordination: Work with Engineering to test and implement new tools, methodologies, or testing approaches in the field. Support the Equipment Control Manager with procedural improvements and on-site efficiency strategies. Training & Documentation: Organize and maintain training records, certifications, and expiration tracking. Assist in building training materials and developing crew proficiency standards. Work to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve time efficiency onsite. Field Support & Crew Leadership: Ensure crews are prepared and awake each morning, daily paperwork is complete, and APA procedures are followed.
Provide in-person and onsite support for crews during active deployments if needed.
- 2+ years of experience in project or field operations management
- Familiarity with scheduling tools, equipment logistics, and utility coordination
- Ability to lead small field crews in high-pressure environments
- Proficient computer use
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Comfortable with travel and onsite fieldwork as needed
- Valid driver’s license required
- Experience in the solar or construction industries is a plus
