Job Summary:
NAES is seeking a highly experienced Project Engineer to support engineering design, procurement, and construction of complex power generation projects. This role will lead multi-discipline engineering efforts from project development through execution, ensuring technical compliance, schedule adherence, and quality assurance. The position is primarily remote but will require occasional presence at the office in Georgia.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical lead for engineering across multiple disciplines (mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, I&C).
- Coordinate engineering activities with internal teams, external vendors, EPC contractors, and the client.
- Oversee project deliverables including drawings, specs, RFIs, DCNs, and procurement packages.
- Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and forecasts for engineering work.
- Ensure alignment with project milestones, scope, and contractual requirements.
- Review and approve vendor and subcontractor submittals, design documents, and technical reports.
- Support early-stage project planning including scope development, cost estimation, and front-end engineering design (FEED).
- Maintain compliance with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Interface with client to address design issues, changes, and technical queries.
- Support QA/QC processes, design reviews, and document control procedures.
- Strong understanding of power generation systems including turbines (gas/steam), boilers, HRSGs, CHP, and balance-of-plant equipment.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating multi-discipline engineering efforts in an EPC environment.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and vendor documentation.
- Ability to lead and interface with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Experience with engineering software tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, AutoDesk Construction Cloud, or equivalent.
- Experience managing projects in the $10M–$50M range
- Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to the office as needed.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Structural preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in the design and construction of steam and/or power generation facilities - 5+ years of experience leading multi-discipline engineering teams as a Project Engineer or similar role- PMP or PE license is a plus
