Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Project Controller to join our team in either Kelowna or Saskatoon. This hybrid position with an expectation of three days per week in the office. As a key member of our project delivery and finance team, you’ll work closely with Project Managers, Finance, Engineers, and Operations to ensure accurate tracking, forecasting, and reporting of project performance.
This role is ideal for a junior to intermediate professional with a strong foundation in project controls, cost management, or financial analysis, who is looking to grow within a dynamic, project and purpose driven environment.
The position is based in Kelowna, BC, and we will also consider applicants based in Saskatoon, SK.
Key Responsibilities
•Support end-to-end project control activities, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, cost tracking, forecasting, and performance reporting.
•Monitor project progress and costs, ensuring alignment with approved budgets and schedules; proactively identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
•Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to develop and maintain project schedules, track milestones, and update forecasts.
•Prepare and maintain project dashboards and reports for internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
•Assist with the preparation and submission of project invoices, managing billing cycles and expenditure tracking in collaboration with Finance.
•Contribute to financial month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting for active projects.
•Support compliance with internal controls, contractual requirements, and funding/grant reporting obligations.
•Participate in process improvement initiatives related to project controls and reporting workflows.
•Assist with audit preparation and respond to internal and external audit requests as needed.
•Administrative tasks associated with accounting and project controls.
•Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
•Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
•1–3 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, or financial/project analysis, ideally in a project-based or energy/infrastructure environment.
•CPA designation (or in progress) is an asset but not required.
•Familiarity with project scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Dynamics, Sage), and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
•Working knowledge of basic AI productivity tools is an asset.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
•Solid understanding of project control principles including earned value management, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis.
•Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
•Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
