Project Billing and Cost Accountant Summary:
The Project Billing and Cost Accountantis responsible for following the scope of multiple sales projects, as a cross departmental team member. Analyze job costing and profitability, reviewing time, materials, overhead, and actual vs. estimated costs to support quoting, commission calculations and operational improvements. This position utilizes accounting principles to monitor project costs, revenue, and billing to help meet the overall financial goals of the business and of the specific projects.

Project Billing and Cost Accountant Education and/or Experience:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (preferred).
Responsibilities of Project Billing and Cost Accountant:
•Oversee project billing and accounts receivable, including milestone invoicing, commission tracking, AR notices, and reconciliation of payments to ensure financial accuracy.
•Support project and contract management by monitoring project milestones, contractual terms, and general project activities in coordination with internal teams.
•Analyze job costing and profitability, reviewing time, materials, overhead, and actual vs. estimated costs to support quoting, commission calculations, and operational improvements.
•Collaborate across departments and with external partners, acting as a liaison between accounting, operations, sales, clients, suppliers.
•Maintain and review cost accounting data, including standard costs, purchase price variances, and overhead allocations to support accurate budgeting and forecasting.
•Assist in compiling and reporting financial data, contributing to budget preparation, cost analysis, and recommendations for improved financial and operational performance.
Qualifications of Project Billing and Cost Accountant:
•Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy, efficiency, and strong attention to detail.
•Strong communication, interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
•Proficient in computer applications, including intermediate Excel and project management tools.
•Solid understanding of accounting principles and their practical application.
•Familiarity with project management workflows and cross-functional coordination.
•Experience or exposure to manufacturing environments is preferred.
