Job Summary
100 person manufacturing company seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join our small but dynamic finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the ideal candidate will oversee financial aspects of various projects within the organization as well as play a crucial role in managing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in accounts payable and receivable, and supporting corporate finance initiatives. This position requires strong analytical skills, leadership capabilities, and a solid understanding of risk management principles. The Project Accountant will contribute to effective cost management strategies and assist in account reconciliation processes.
Responsibilities
•Oversee project accounting functions, including invoicing, accounts payable, and receivable related to projects.
•Work closely with the project management team to understand project objectives and financial requirements.
•Monitor and forecast project expenditures, providing insights to the controller.
•Collaborate with the controller to prepare and present detailed financial reports on project performance, including budget vs actual analyses.
•Manage accounts payable function to ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.
•Conduct thorough account reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
•Assist in corporate finance activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
•Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for risk management.
•Support cost management initiatives by monitoring expenditures and identifying areas for improvement.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on financial objectives.
•Work closely with the controller to ensure the preparation, maintenance, and revision of accurate revenue recognition schedules and reports.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper revenue recognition and resolve any related issues.
•Assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
•Ensure compliance with internal controls and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred.
•Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or corporate finance roles.
•Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
•Strong understanding of risk analysis and risk management principles.
•Proficiency in cost management techniques and financial analysis.
•Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in revenue recognition or project accounting, with specific experience in ASPE 3400.
•Experience with ADP payroll would be an asset
•Proficiency in using financial dashboards and reporting tools.
