Position Summary
Integrated Geomatics Inc. has a permanent, full-time opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our growing team based out of Calgary, Alberta. The Project Accountant will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of assigned projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, invoicing, and reporting. Working closely with project managers and senior finance staff, this role plays a critical part in ensuring project profitability, timely billing, and compliance with internal and external standards. The Project Accountant will also support project planning and execution, contributing to the overall success of the projects.
Key Responsibilities
•Monitor and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance: Ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
•Prepare and analyze monthly project reports (budget vs. actual): Provide insights and recommendations to project managers.
•Review and approve project expenditures, purchase orders, and timesheets: Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate and timely processing.
•Ensure timely and accurate client invoicing and revenue recognition: Coordinate with project managers to address any discrepancies.
•Collaborate with project managers to resolve financial issues and support project planning: Actively participate in project meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making.
•Support audits and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures: Work with project teams to ensure compliance.
•Assist in month-end and year-end close related to project financials: Coordinate with project managers to ensure accurate reporting.
Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field: Experience in project management or a project-based environment is a plus.
•3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or engineering environment: Demonstrated ability to manage project finances and collaborate with project teams.
•Strong understanding of cost accounting and financial reporting: Knowledge of project management principles and practices.
•Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (experience with [insert specific ERP if applicable]): Familiarity with project management tools and time-tracking systems.
•Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple projects
•Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Nice to Have
•Experience working in the survey, engineering or construction industry: Understanding of industry-specific project management practices.
•Familiarity with project management tools and time-tracking systems: Experience in using these tools to support project planning and execution.
•CPA, CMA, or working towards certification
