Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our team at Driltek Operating LLC., a reputable oil and gas service company based in California. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting our financial operations related to project management and execution. This position will be responsible for the full cycle of project accounting, including budgeting, cost tracking, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
•Project Cost Tracking & Reporting:
•Monitor and track project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.
•Maintain up-to-date project financials in accordance with company standards and project budgets.
•Prepare detailed financial reports and forecasts for assigned projects.
•Ensure the proper allocation of costs and expenses to respective projects and work orders.
•Oversee the preparation and timely submission of client invoices for completed work, ensuring all billable costs are captured and accurately represented.
•Coordinate with project managers to ensure all deliverables and milestones are billed in a timely manner.
•Budgeting & Forecasting:
•Assist in the development of project budgets, ensuring alignment with client contracts and company goals.
•Collaborate with project managers to forecast future costs and potential revenue, making adjustments as necessary.
•Project Documentation & Compliance:
•Review and verify contracts, change orders, and other relevant documentation for financial accuracy.
•Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal controls.
•Provide audit support as needed and ensure adherence to internal policies and industry best practices.
•General Ledger & Financial Reporting:
•Prepare month-end and year-end financial statements for project accounting, including reconciliation of project-related general ledger accounts.
•Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
•Collaboration & Communication:
•Work closely with project managers, senior accountants, and other departments to resolve financial discrepancies and ensure project milestones are met.
•Communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and third-party auditors.
Qualifications:
•Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
•Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, preferably within the oil and gas or construction industry.
•Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Quickbooks, Stampli or similar).
•Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions.
•Familiarity with oil and gas accounting principles, project cost control, and revenue recognition methods.
•In-depth understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
•Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements
•Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve them in a timely manner.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Skills:
•Previous experience with project cost control in the oil and gas sector.
•Previous construction experience with project cost control.
•Familiarity with project management tools and software.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
