JOB SUMMARY

The Production Manager leads the production operations across one or more aggregate sites, overseeing mining, processing, stockpiling, loading, and shipping activities. This role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant operations by managing site-level supervisors and teams, driving continuous improvement, and collaborating with Sales, Reliability & Maintenance, and other functional leaders to meet production goals, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. The Production Manager plays a key role in capital planning, employee development, and fostering a culture of safety and operational excellence. This position will enable Dolese’s vision of being a unique and growing competitor through innovation and people by harnessing the potential of onsite employees and technology.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Champion Dolese’s Safety Always culture by promoting proactive safety practices and encouraging every employee to internalize safety as a personal value.

- Maintain and audit facility safety records to ensure compliance with company and MSHA standards.

- Lead root cause analyses of incidents and implements corrective actions to support the company goal of zero recordable injuries.

- Manage crises effectively and continue to achieve results despite obstacles and setbacks.

- Support environmental compliance and reporting across assigned sites.

- Manage all production activities across assigned sites, including crushing, screening, and mobile equipment operations.

- Develop and executive production plans to meet volume, quality, and cost targets.

- Monitor operational performance using KPIs and adjust resources to optimize results.

- Lead commissioning of capital projects and support long-term site planning.

- Develop talent by providing employees with coaching, feedback, exposure, and continuous improvement assignments.

- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

- Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.

- Integrate Lean practices into daily operations to drive process efficiency and reduce waste.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and implement operational improvements.

- Support the development of multi-year capital forecasts and cost justification for improvements.

- Partner with Aggregate Sales and Reliability & Maintenance to align production capabilities with customer demand.

- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and community stakeholders.

- Promote cross-functional teamwork and recognize contributions across the organization.

- Ensure consistent accounting and tracking of all operational production processes to enable analysis and reporting of key financial indicators.

- Maintain regular, reliable attendance at assigned work locations.

- Perform additional duties as needed to support safety, operational efficiency, and team development.

- Manage conflict by working through disagreements and settling disputes equitably.

- Ensure the growth of a positive business culture through behaviors that align with our core values and leadership competencies.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.

- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in production or manufacturing, including at least 5-7 years in a management role.

- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Industry experience in aggregate mining preferred.

- Working knowledge of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete and/or asphalt operations and equipment, MSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

- Must possess knowledge and experience managing financial performance to established targets.

- Must be able to effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey information, provide direction, and foster collaboration.

- Analytical ability and resourcefulness, as required in developing and implementing improved processes and resolving operating problems.

- Ability to travel occasionally and work flexible schedules including early mornings, nights, and weekends.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

- Currently possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs. of weight frequently.

- Ability to work near, around, or on light or heavy equipment.

- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders.

- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push, and pull objects.

- Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently.

- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions.

- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting.

- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces.
