The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic Production Manager to lead and support daily operations across our Shipping and Lab departments, with additional oversight of Plant Receiving and the Receiving Office as needed. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, this role is pivotal in driving efficiency, process improvement, and team development in a fast-paced industrial environment in Milwaukee.
With approximately seven direct reports, you will act as a mentor and leader, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. The ideal candidate brings supervisory experience in the environmental services industry, a passion for operational excellence, and the ability to enhance workflows for a thriving and successful operation.
What You'll Do
Operations and Compliance Management
•Manage the day-to-day operations, processes, and compliance of assigned areas, including but not limited to shipping, laboratory, and other areas as needed.
•Ensure inventory is processed correctly based on process code, inbound profile, and analysis information.
•Communicate problems and issues to appropriate departments, including the lab, receiving, and maintenance.
•Ensure area equipment is maintained and operational.
Team Leadership and People Management
•Manage and supervise a team of direct reports across multiple departments.
•Coach, guide, and support people managers in navigating employee relations issues, performance management, and problem-solving.
Vendor and Contractor Coordination
•Serve as the primary point of contact for site-level contractors and vendors.
Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Compliance
•Foster, uphold, and prioritize a strong culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) throughout your team, ensuring that safety and compliance are integral to all operations.
•Report any non-maintenance EHS concerns observed to the appropriate department.
•Ensure all production areas comply with Part B, RCRA permit.
What You'll Need
Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or related field, or three to five years of equivalent experience in environmental or hazardous waste environments
Experience:
•Three years of processing/inventory management/shipping experience is desirable
•Three or more years of leadership experience is preferred
•Experience working with 3rd party contractors and vendors
Skill:
•Strong communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving challenges efficiently.
