Role Summary:
The Production Manager/Plant Superintendent provides leadership to the Production team. The incumbent will manage the operators and equipment to support efficient operations with a strong focus on safety,
efficiency, customer delivery
and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Optimize scheduling of resources to efficiently run plant operations.
•Develop and manage an accurate labour plan in line with sales forecasts.
•Lead daily production and pre-shift meetings.
•Develop and implement continuous improvement projects.
•Collaborate with the Maintenance, Shipping and Quality departments to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
•Coordinate with the customer service team to respond to lead time requests.
•Manage a team of up to 50 team members including a Shift Supervisor, Team Leads, and Operators.
•Act as a role model and provide strong, effective leadership to build a strong and committed team.
•Develop 5S audit process to ensure all workstations are well maintained and organized.
•Ensure raw materials are ordered on time, labelled, and stored correctly and current MSDS’s are available.
•Assist in the development and implementation of the Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) plan for the Hamilton site.
•Ensure accurate Production reporting, including but not limited to:
•Build quantity balances on the Daily Floor Schedule
•Downtime tracking and reporting
Education/Experience:
•5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing leadership role.
•Understanding of steel manufacturing preferred.
•High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
•College diploma and/or University degree is an asset.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Suite software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, etc.).
•Staff Management, development & motivation.
•Management/Operating Cost and Expense Management.
•Understanding of health and safety principles and management.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Strong organizational skills, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
•Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
•Ability to crawl, stoop, crouch, and kneel to troubleshoot machines as needed.
