Reports To: DeQuincy Plant Manager with a dotted line to Corporate Engineering Director
Manages: No direct reports. Manages through influence and provides guidance and direction as a production engineering leader.
Performs production engineering functions/projects for the Asbury DeQuincy plant. Will assist in corporate wide initiatives as needed. This position must have the ability to analyze information, provide technical direction for process improvements, drive standards and report results.
· Focus on production process by identifying methods to improve efficiency throughput rates, improve safety, lower production costs, and lower reject rates.
· Evaluate front line technologies in commutation or classification to expand or improve processing capabilities utilizing lean and or six sigma methodologies.
· Implement new technology for process improvements– projects such as in line measuring system, PLC control monitoring, automation and robotics.
· Train, educate and support plant personnel in process control and improvement methods, new equipment operation, process changes, Root Cause Analysis & trouble shooting.
· Assist with the development of manufacturing standards and best practices including preventative maintenance process and documentation.
· Participate and at times lead the development of HAZ OP evaluations, PFMEA and SOP development for specific manufacturing processes.
· Work with production to qualify new equipment and processes for "quality of design," conformance to customer requirements.
· 3+ years in industrial engineering work experience preferred
· Ability to work independently and as a cross functional team member
· Strong skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
· Familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma tools: 5S, Kaizen, PDCA, Value Stream Mapping preferred
· Design software such as CAD including CMMS systems preferred
The plants can run 3 shifts 24 hours/day 5 days a week and occasionally weekend shifts. This is a salary position with responsibility of coverage to support a three-shift operation; regular work hours are approximately 40-48 hours per week 7:00am to 4:00pm or similar. Periodic travel to other Asbury plant locations will be required approximately 15-25% of the time project depending. Additional hours may be required to support business needs and completion of assigned projects.
