Position Overview:
The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for aligning planning, designing, purchasing and programming with implementing integrated manufacturing processes in an industrial plant. The Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in developing and optimizing manufacturing cells for both current and future product builds. This individual will be responsible for driving facility initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, support product development and enable seamless collaboration across departments.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:•Collaborate closely with Industrial Engineers, programmers, and designers to develop and implement new manufacturing cells
•Manage processes to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification.
•Work with industrial engineers to identify barriers with product and performance and recommend solutions or enhancements
•Develop and implement manufacturing processes and equipment to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency.
•Performs equipment design evaluations and streamline new processes
•Prioritize, plan and implement plant-based projects that support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
•Responsible for Capital Projects: process improvement, development of new manufacturing processes, implementing automation, and documentation
•Manage/Supervise the Maintenance team
•Provide leadership and technical support to teams responsible for preventative maintenance (PM) programs, tooling performance and the design and fabrication of jigs and fixtures to ensure optimal equipment reliability and production efficiency
•Proactively identify and address potential production disruptions
•Proactively identify and address safety related process and equipment issues
•This position is a member of the plant leadership team responsible for making business decisions to continue to drive Nelson safety, quality, and profitability
•Some travel will be required
•Other duties as assigned
Required Education & Experience:
•Degree (BS/BE/MS/ME) in the field of Mechanical, industrial, or Production Engineering
•Minimum 4 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering
•Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervision
Skills & Abilities:
•Familiar with manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures
•Demonstrated leadership skills
•Lean and Six Sigma training desired
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to work in a professional manner with all customers (internal / external) and suppliers
•Ability to develop training and train employees
•Excellent problem-solving skills
•Project management skills
•Computer proficiency in Microsoft and Manufacturing software applications
•Strong leadership skills
•Knowledge experience with blueprint reading; manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, tube bending, press/hydraulic operations
