Duties & Responsibilities
The Procurement Specialist is to serve as the primary point of contact between Talos Energy and all approved vendors:
- Develop and negotiate supplier contracts and agreements
- Interview vendors to obtain information concerning product/service, price, availability and delivery data.
- Create a partnership relationship with assigned suppliers with open and frequent communications
- Establish feedback and communications between offshore platforms and Houston operations and vendors to understand needs of the business and relative impact on suppliers
- Assure accurate and timely purchase orders, adjust per needs of the business and deliver clear communications to suppliers
- Update Procurement Manager on supplier performance against specific needs and follow up on expedites and current schedules for positive impact to customer service
- Provide demand forecasting, expediting orders and initiating supplier performance corrective actions
- Review bid proposals from vendors and recommend or enter into contracts within limits of delegated authority
- Discuss defects with quality control/inspection personnel to determine source of defect and initiate corrective action
- Perform other duties as required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a procurement or subcontracts role for an offshore exploration and production company.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering or related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of contracts and negotiations
- Ability to build good relationships with suppliers
- Project experience to include interface with controls, engineering, project management and client as well as management of project procurement functions.
- Proven track record in cost reduction programs
- Clear written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work in a complex schedule driven work environment
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development
- Have a strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal with ethical situations effectively
- Experience working within SAP is preferred, but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- There are no certificates, licenses or registrations required for this position
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
- Ability to travel to make site visits to vendor facilities, offshore assets and other Talos office locations as required.
- Ability to travel without limitation, including airplanes, helicopters, and boats.
- Ability to utilize swing ropes to access platforms offshore as required.
- Ability to move freely on offshore assets, including stairs, ladders and lifting up to 50-lbs, and endure extreme weather conditions and hazardous atmospheres.
