A Process Quality Technician plays a vital role in manufacturing at CF, ensuring products meet quality standards by inspecting materials, equipment, and processes, identifying defects, and suggesting improvements.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
Inspection and Testing:
•Perform inspections on parts and processes under minimal supervision.
•Conduct routine quality inspections throughout the production process, including in-process and final inspections
•Perform visual and dimensional tests of parts to ensure product meets specifications.
•Use tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges to check products and components for defects.
•Follow control plans and work instructions.
•Ensure cleanliness and order at inspection and test stations.
Data Collection and Reporting:
•Maintain documentation of all inspections and potential issues.
•Compile data and report findings to engineers and other stakeholders.
•Track testing specifications and document results.
•Develop data streams integral to processes.
Process Improvement:
•Train new operators on quality assurance procedures.
•Analyze data and identify areas for improvement, contributing to increased efficiency and quality.
•Suggest process improvements and identify areas where improvements can be made.
•Troubleshoot process-related issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
•Assist with problem resolution.
•Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S.
Monitoring Equipment:
•Monitor equipment, machinery, and control systems to ensure smooth and efficient production.
Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
•Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, performing routine maintenance and repairs.
•Identify and address issues with equipment or processes, using their technical knowledge and problem-solving skills to find solutions.
Safety:
•Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
•Participate in safety meetings, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Collaboration:
•Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to ensure smooth operations.
•Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop and implement process improvements, including efficiency enhancements and cost reduction initiatives.
Other Duties:
•Completes all tasks assigned by their supervisor.
•Perform equipment calibrations.
•Perform workstation audits.
•Ensure machines are working properly.
•Sorting, weighing, or testing products for quality control.
Specific Expectations:
Print Reading
•Become proficient at understanding dimensions and corresponding tolerances on a Blueprint along with understanding of weld callouts and all notes.
Powder/ Paint Inspection
•Understand paint finishes, defects, and testing, this includes but isn’t limited to gloss, paint thickness, orange peel, dimples, pin holes, scratches and dull areas.
Measuring tools
•Proficient at using the common measuring tools, this includes but not limited to: calipers, measuring tape, radius gages, angle finder, plug gages and torque wrenches.
Weld
•Understand the basics of an acceptable weld, this includes spot welds, plug welds and fillet welds along with common defects for each.
Applicable practices
•Know what tools to use to inspect the feature presented at the inspection point of each process.
FAI
•Perform a complete First Article Inspection for new products on the shop floor.
NCMR
•Write a non-conforming material report for defective pieces.
CoC
•Make Certificate Of Conformance for customers that require them to be shipped
