The Business Systems Analyst will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and optimization of business-critical applications. This role involves troubleshooting issues, supporting end-users, managing system updates, and ensuring compliance with security standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills and a customer-focused mindset, capable of bridging the gap between IT and business units.
This position is an Individual Contributor role. The role directly reports to the Business Relationship Manager – HR, Sales, Marketing, & HSE and routinely interacts with Global IT, Global Business Leads, Global Functional Leads, and Global Operations.
- Administer and maintain business applications and other enterprise software systems.
- Monitor application performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Provide tier-2/3 support to end-users, resolving technical issues, and escalating complex problems to vendors or additional IT staff as needed.
- Manage user access, permissions, and security configurations in line with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
- Coordinate and execute application updates, patches, and upgrades, including testing in staging environments to minimize downtime.
- Develop and maintain documentation for application configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Conduct user training sessions and create support materials to enhance adoption and efficiency.
- Perform regular audits and backups to ensure data integrity and disaster recovery readiness.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements to existing application ecosystems.
- Analyze business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for automation or enhancement through application features.
- Conduct detailed requirements gathering and systems analysis for new implementations, upgrades, or customizations, translating business needs into technical specifications.
- Assess integration requirements between business applications and third-party systems, designing and testing interfaces to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability.
- Develop and execute test cases for application changes, including updates, customizations, and integrations, to validate functionality, performance, and compatibility before production deployment.
- Evaluate system performance metrics, usage patterns, and user feedback to generate analytical reports and dashboards that inform decision-making.
- Perform root cause analysis on application incidents, errors, and outages, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures to improve system resilience.
- Participate in system architecture reviews and design sessions, evaluating scalability, reliability, and alignment with long-term business objectives.
- Model data flows, user journeys, and process diagrams to support systems analysis and optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with infrastructure systems administrators to ensure optimal server performance, network connectivity, hardware compatibility, and resource allocation for business applications.
- Work closely with cybersecurity analysts to implement security controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, respond to incidents, and ensure application compliance with cybersecurity policies.
- Partner with database administrators to manage data structures, optimize database queries, perform data migrations, and maintain data integrity across integrated systems.
- Coordinate with other IT professionals, including developers, network engineers, and project managers, on cross-functional initiatives such as system integrations, custom developments, and IT infrastructure projects.
- Experience with sales and CRM systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce, etc. is required
- Experience with Health, Safety, and Environmental systems such as Evotix, VelocityEHS, Cority, etc. is preferred
- Experience with HRIS systems such as Oracle PeopleSoft, SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, etc. is preferred
- Experience with HR modules of ERP systems such as JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle EBS, etc. is preferred
- Experience with payroll systems such as ADP, UKG, Paycom, etc. is preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
- 15+ Years of Information Technology experience. - 10+ years of experience in systems analysis and/or application administration, preferably with enterprise business systems.- Strong expertise querying databases with SQL
- Strong expertise automating tasks with scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python)
- Expertise with at least one major business application platform (e.g., ERP, CRM).
- Experience with cloud-based and on-prem business applications.
- Experience with operating systems (e.g. Windows, Linux) and related application servers (e.g. IIS, WebLogic, Tomcat)
- Familiarity with reporting and data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, Business Objects).
- Familiarity with database management systems (e.g. SQL Server, Oracle).
- Familiarity with data integration tools (e.g. Informatica, MuleSoft)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings.
- Experience in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry a plus.
- Relevant application administration and project management certifications preferred.
- Technical proficiency in query languages and data visualization tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Technical proficiency in scripting languages for automation tasks.
- Strong knowledge of databases, operating systems, and application servers.
- Deep knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) best practices.
- Knowledge of project management and DevOps best practices.
- Knowledge of change management practices, methods, and techniques to adapt, drive and implement change.
- Solid understanding of IT security best practices and compliance standards.
