Overview
Power Ray LLC, a Texas-based power company specializing in utility-scale solar energy, is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to lead and oversee pre-construction responsibilities. This leadership role is crucial for ensuring the successful execution of pre-construction processes, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving operational excellence in energy infrastructure development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility-scale solar construction and team leadership.
Duties
•Manage the preconstruction process from initial planning through to project execution.
•Collaborate with project teams to develop accurate schematics and project timelines.
•Utilize construction management software such as ProCore for effective project tracking and documentation.
•Conduct thorough reviews of project plans and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
•Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring accuracy and feasibility.
•Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to gather bids and negotiate contracts.
•Implement effective time management strategies to meet project deadlines.
•Facilitate communication between stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and expectations.
Requirements
•Must be knowledgeable in reading complex construction contracts and adhering to the requirements.
•Work closely with owners, Director of Estimation & Acquisition, Business development team, Project Managers and design professionals from the conceptual phase, design development, construction documents, budget development and turnover to operations.
•Create conceptual budgets at early stages of project based on unit metrics provided by client.
•Perform constructability on plans at different stages of design.
•Prepare detailed/accurate estimates that clearly communicate project costs and scope at different stages of design.
•Prepare overall contract exhibits reflecting final budget to client for execution/award.
•Perform value engineering studies for client consideration if budget issues arise.
•Through company bidding software, (ProCore) prepare detailed instructions to bidders, trade specific clarifications, and comprehensive bid packages.
•Review and validate/level subcontractor bids and proposed schedules.
•Engage subcontractor/client outreach to expand subcontractor partnerships.
•Conducting site inspections and pre-planning the construction process
•Supervising construction work on site
•Preparing contract documents for signing by owners or contractors
•Overseeing the development of pre-construction documents, including plans and specifications
•Evaluating, negotiating, and awarding construction contracts
•Monitoring the progress and quality of pre-construction activities
•Managing the pre-construction budget and ensuring accuracy of cost estimates
•Coordinating with stakeholders and creating project timelines
•Maintaining and developing subcontractor resources
•Working on multiple projects simultaneously
•Creating initial working schedules for projects.
•Represent company at industry and community functions and actively participate in Business Development activities.
•Continuously improving (through creativity and innovation) our practical and technical approach to pre-construction to help put our company on the cutting edge of the industry.
•Training of applicable pre-construction staff when opportunity arise.
•Proven experience in construction management or a related field.
•Proficiency in construction management software including ProCore.
•Strong understanding of schematics and the ability to interpret complex construction documents.
•Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
•Exceptional organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
•Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
•Ability to navigate project plans and specifications.
•Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
•Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
•Close attention to detail.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•A strong work ethic and a “can-do” attitude.
•Proficient in Microsoft programs (excel, word, etc.)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
•A bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Construction field is required.
•At least 6 years of related experience required.
•Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices in the Solar Industry
•Knowledgeable in reading complex construction contracts and following requirements.
•Utility Scale Solar: 2 years (Required)
•ProCore Experience preferred but not required

•Salary $100,000 - $140,000 DOE
Willingness to travel:
Work Location: On the road- Power Ray operates in different states at different times of the year and this person must travel consistently where the job sites are located.
