The Buyer will negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services used by the plant. The duties include contract negotiations, logistics, value analysis, warehouse procurement, inventory activities in accordance with established corporate procurement policies and procedures. Activities include ensuring there is an adequate and well organized supply of parts, tools, and consumables on hand to support operations and maintenance of the facility
Deal directly with vendors to place orders and follow up on deliveries.
Maintain purchase requisitions and obtain all necessary signatures.
Procurement, bidding, and negotiations of contracts for materials, maintenance repair and operation items, as well as onsite-offsite contractors.
Purchasing of capital equipment, supplies, and services for existing facilities. Evaluate, select, and negotiate price, schedule, terms and conditions with domestic suppliers.
Complete other tasks as requested by O&M Supervisor.
Coordinate & obtain approval for vendor selection and addition with the Asset Manager
The Buyer must maintain a professional, courteous relationship with vendors, while accurately and effectively communicating purchasing requirements. This individual must be able to work with minimum supervision and be able to effectively communicate information to Plant Management and personnel. The position requires being able to analyze our purchasing and inventory processes, and provide suggestions for system improvements. The Buyer must ensure all duties are performed within prescribed operating procedures and guidelines.
The Buyer reports to the O&M Coordinator and cooperates with all plant personnel relative to the purchasing and inventory processes.
Physical requirements include: working on feet, requiring stair and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting. Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g. hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, etc.)
The Buyer has the possibility of working weekends and holidays, as required by work load.
All employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes pre/post employment physical examinations and drug screening.
