- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive physical security program for all company facilities, including power plants, substations, and corporate offices.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and weaknesses. Use this data to recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
- Create and manage the physical security budget, including procurement and resource allocation for security initiatives.
- Lead the selection, design, installation, and maintenance of physical security systems, such as physical access control (PACS), video surveillance, and intrusion detection.
- Ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to physical security, including NERC CIP-006 (Physical Security of BES Cyber Systems) and CIP-014 (Physical Security).
- Prepare for and support internal and external security audits by regulatory bodies such as NERC, FERC, and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- Create, review, and maintain meticulous documentation of all security policies, procedures, incidents, and corrective actions.
- Oversee the daily operations of physical security across the organization, including managing secure operations environments, contracted security guard services, security personnel, and vendors.
- Develop and manage incident response and crisis management plans for physical security breaches, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
- Coordinate and engage with law enforcement, regulatory authorities, and other external agencies during investigations, emergency situations, and educational engagements for critical assets within all communities that AECC serves.
- Manage protective security services for executive leadership and events as needed.
- Establish scheduled training using Internal procedures and external parties, to create identified, repeatable practices for personnel awareness and reaction. (ie.. Active Shooter, civil unrest, personal protection, workplace violence, geo-related awareness, etc.)
- Manage and train a team of corporate response personnel, contractors, and vendors. This includes setting expectations, providing ongoing training, and ensuring compliance with all company policies.
- Promote a strong security culture through company-wide security awareness training for all employees.
- In-depth knowledge of physical and electronic security standards, technologies, and best practices.
- Expertise in NERC CIP standards and how they relate to physical and electronic security systems.
- Strong understanding of security systems integration, including access control, video management, and alarm systems.
- The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.

- A bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., computer science, criminal investigation, psychology, engineering) or security-related field is often preferred. Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in security management, law enforcement, or related role within a critical infrastructure environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing security personnel, both internal and contracted.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work in a high-stakes environment with strict attention to detail and compliance.
Certifications related to NERC compliance, such as CIP training, may also be required.
Professional security certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP) are highly desirable.
