Freedom Forever is currently hiring a Permit Technican for our Canton, Michigan Office!
Position SummaryThe Permit Technician is responsible for submitting and obtaining building permits from local jurisdictions. This includes coordinating with in-house designers and city officials, preparing paperwork, resolving objections, and occasionally traveling to submit documents in person.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist with the permitting process and support the Permit Coordinator
- Submit and track permit applications (online, in person, or by mail)
- Communicate with jurisdictions to resolve issues and ensure timely approvals
- Maintain accurate records and calculate project valuations
- Obtain customer signatures for required documents
- Travel to jurisdictions as needed for submissions or pickups
- Practice safe and efficient driving when traveling
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Certifications
- Detail-oriented with experience working with municipal departments
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Legible handwriting and ability to learn new software
- Prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, and document handling
- Ability to switch between sitting and standing
- Clear verbal communication and comprehension
- Occasional bending and filing tasks
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
