Join Our Team as an Engineering Technician!
York Water is seeking a detail-oriented Engineering Technician to join our Engineering team. In this role, you’ll support the planning, design, permitting, and construction of Company facilities while ensuring our projects are accurate, compliant, and efficient. - Coordinate the planning, application, design, and construction of new customer service lines.
- Review active construction projects to ensure specifications, plans, procedures, and permits are followed.
- Assist with permit applications, reports, and documentation.
- Conduct hydrant flow tests.
- Maintain and organize company asset records, including drawings and specifications.
- Gather field data using GPS and other equipment.
- Coordinate responses to external requests for mapping data (PA One Call, governmental agencies, etc.).
- Develop drawings in CAD format for Company projects.
- Participate in emergency duty assignments as needed.
- Demonstrate professional and positive communication with customers, employees, and external partners.
- Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Design, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 2 years of related work experience.
- Significant coursework and experience with AutoCAD required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ESRI GIS products and GPS equipment strongly preferred.
- Valid PA driver’s license required.
- Backflow Device Tester Certification and PA Class E Water System Operator’s license required within one year of employment.
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, including fieldwork in various weather conditions.
- Regular lifting/moving of items up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to operate GPS and field equipment, navigate uneven terrain, and perform hydrant testing.
- Combination of office and fieldwork.
- Exposure to outdoor conditions during field assignments.
