What You’ll Do

Promote Safety. Take an active role prioritizing safety for yourself and others to ensure zero accidents and total compliance with all Vulcan policies and procedures. Will be responsible for leading daily safety huddles.

Organize and Plan Operations. Plan the daily operation scheduling of construction projects to ensure optimal utilization of equipment, personnel and inventory requirements, and work procedures for constructing roadways.

Manage Employee Relations. Provide strong leadership, training, team building, and supervision to all employees on the job site to support the business's operational function. Work cross-functionally with HR to recruit new employees, provide merit increases, perform disciplinary actions, and evaluate employees' performance to develop talent.

Monitor Processes and Materials. Analyze production and quality control to ensure our customers receive a quality product. Be aware of the production needs, the progress of the job, projected production per day, breakdowns, periodically monitor yield and overruns to assure compliance, etc., and be aware of their operating status.

Maintain Compliance. Build a strong safety culture to ensure the project complies with Vulcan’s safety, operations, and environmental policies and procedures. Manage the health and safety of employees to continuously improve Vulcan’s health and safety performance.

Inspect Equipment and Perform Repairs. Ensure that operators properly maintain equipment and fill out and turn in daily equipment inspection reports. Assist and organize employees' work in the daily inspection and maintenance of the job site to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operations, maximizing production and minimizing interruptions.

Skills You’ll Need

Experience. Previous experience in supervising employees in a construction environment is preferred.

Leadership and Management Skills. Must be able to provide strong leadership and mentorship to employees, both direct and indirect reports, to motivate and maintain interpersonal relationships.

Operational Knowledge. Must demonstrate knowledge and understanding of rock and sand mining, ready-mix concrete, and/or asphalt operations and equipment, OSHA regulations, engineering principles and procedures, and quality control systems and processes.

Interpersonal Skills. Must be an excellent motivator and team builder. Must be able to form strong social relationships and effectively communicate with both internal and external audiences.

Financial Knowledge. Must possess knowledge and experience leading financial performance to established targets, meeting or exceeding performance goals.

Working Conditions. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.
