Union Power Cooperative has an immediate opening for a qualified Part Time Dispatcher who will provide night, weekend and/or holiday relief in the Operations Center to manage outage crew assignments, assist in regular and after-hours customer service activities, and the monitoring of both the distribution system and the security system while continuously remaining focused on the Cooperative's Mission and Vision Statements, and the promotion of the Cooperative's Guiding Values.
- Utilizes UPC's Outage Management System (OMS) and other related systems to evaluate and prioritize outage management, hazard conditions, and unusual system activity.
- Assigns personnel and equipment to outages and hazard conditions.
- Documents and communicates outages, abnormal conditions and hazard conditions to Operations personnel, contractors and other stakeholders in the System Operations Center.
- Provides outage and hazard data to various individuals at the Cooperative, including executive leadership.
- Serves as main point of contact for employee Mayday or hazard situations.
- Performs after hours customer service functions, including telephone contact with end consumers.
- Assigns service orders to Operations personnel.
- Documents and reports system irregularities to the appropriate personnel.
- Responsible for monitoring security system and reporting abnormal or suspicious activity.
- Perform all other duties assigned by supervision.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Five years' work experience required.
- Associates degree in a related field with a preference in electrical technology preferred.
- This job requires availability for up to 12-hour shifts periodically during the week, weekends, or holidays. Hours will be irregular based on the need of the System Operations Center to ensure 24x7 coverage.
- Ability to read and interpret documents of a technical nature such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine service orders and log reports; speak effectively and present information orally to customers and/or employees of organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates and percentages.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- High level of computer competency.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Ability to work without direct supervision required.
- Ability to read and interpret both digital and paper maps.
- Knowledge of system geography required.
- Must be able to effectively multi-task and communicate using a variety of mediums including telephone, two-way radio, and email.
