We are currently seeking an experienced Paint Technician - Component Repair to join our growing team. This position will be located in our CrossPoint (Balzac) location.
Reporting to the Team Leader, Component Repair, the Component Repair Paint Technician is responsible for the application of all in-house protective coatings. The TransCanada Turbines Component Repair department consists of paint booths, curing oven, grit blasting, glass beading and burnishing equipment, specializing in Siemens and General Electric aero-derivative gas turbines.
The duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Apply solvent and water-based coatings using spray guns such as SATA and Devilbiss equipment. Must be able to achieve proper thickness of required coating.
- Grit blast parts using aluminum oxide or glassbead media.
- De-mask and oven cure parts as required.
- Inspect parts to manufacturing standards.
- Assist with repair scheme development and expansion of the current component repair scope of services.
- Work directly with the Team Lead to establish work priorities, scheduling of work and stock optimization.
- Have a high degree of material handling awareness
- Using PPE such as full and half face respirators, supplied air system, steel toe footwear, eye and ear protection, and any other PPE as required.
- Clean parts to ensure all previous coatings, grease/oil and any other contaminates have been removed.
- Follow engineered drawings and repair schemes, mask turbine parts as required
- Monitor shop practices to ensure that the facility is always operated in a healthy, safe, and environmentally conscience manner, per TCT policies and procedures. Take steps to correct any condition that violates this fundamental principle.
- Make recommendations on policy and procedures to improve shop productivity and profit of the company in general, and to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Increase knowledge of the HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of myself and my coworkers.
- Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE

- 1+ year related painting experience is required, however, a combination of education & experience will be considered
- Shift rotation work is required (day, afternoon with occasional night shifts as required)
