Job Overview
The Outside Sales position is responsible for developing relationships with customers and growing accounts in their assigned territory through the promotion and selling of the company’s products. This position will maintain constant contact with key accounts, and initiate contact with new clients. The incumbent will work with the customer, Inside Sales, Engineering and management team to find solutions that fit the needs of current and potential customers to grow our business. The Outside Sales will proactively communicate information from the field on customer and competitor activity to management in regular sales reports for input into a market driven strategy. The Outside Sales will provide a medium to long term outlook for activity in their assigned area, including changes in market trends and forecasting information.
Outside Sales is vital member of the dynamic sales group whose foundation is anchored on teamwork, integrity, accountability and enthusiasm. This position requires exercising independent judgment to perform the responsibilities described herein and does require routine monthly travel.
- Scheduled international and domestic travel to visit existing and potential customers to sell company’s products.
- Unscheduled travel as required to respond to urgent opportunities and address customer concerns/complaints.
- Provide customer support by responding to customer inquiries and requests.
- Partner with current customers to ascertain current needs and generate additional sales.
- Work closely with all the departments to recognize and promote sales
- Meet KPIs as outlined in yearly Performance Plan .
- Update Director, Sales on customer activity including POs, complaints, forecasts and changes through regular communication including email, phone calls and CRM entries.
- Ensure that databases are current and updated with accurate customer information.
- Consult with customers after sales to act as a first point of contact for field problems, and to coordinate with management and engineering to resolve the problem and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Execute timely preparation of all expense reports, sales reports and assigned projects.
- Keep management and sales team members informed of all relevant activity in the market.
- Able to represent the company in a positive professional manner at all times, showing an excellent sales aptitude along with the ability to learn and apply knowledge of Company’s products and services to provide solutions for customers.
- Any other duties as directed by the management.
- University Degree, College Diploma or equivalent.
- 5 - 8 years oilfield sales experience preferably in drilling and completion work.
- Strong communication and relationship management skills for customer interactions.
- Self-starter; motivated, customer focused, and results driven.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, CRM and Sales Order Entry software.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license and clean drivers abstract.
- Valid Passport and ability to travel internationally is required.
- Approximately 35-50% travel is required, both domestic and international.
- Strong organizational, time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with the exploration industry, including rig owners and operators is an asset.
