Tate Ornamental, Inc. is a family owned and operated company that has been in business since 1988. We pride ourselves on being a one-stop shop for design, fabrication, installation, and freight. We specialize in creating distinguished works of art from our fabrication of architectural metal, millwork, and stone. Our projects include stairways, railings, canopies, millwork, casework, stone and quartz. Ornamental metals include steel cold and hot roll, bronze/brass, stainless steel and aluminum.
The Ornamental Metal Install Foreman is responsible for overseeing and managing a crew of ironworkers that construct and install metal structures in the field according to specifications.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Reads blueprints and specifications to determine the scope of work: locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
•Identifies all tools and equipment required for tasks.
•Identifies safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.
•Manages a crew of installers with regards to scheduling, processes and sequences, time, and cost.
•Illustrates in-depth knowledge of all iron/steel processes.
•Hoists equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.
•Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels from designated benchmarks.
•Connects columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
•Bolt aligns ornamental metal members in position for permanent riveting, bolting and/or welding per blueprint specifications.
•Stops production work when an RFI needs to be initiated and communicates with the Superintendent.
•Other project related tasks as assigned by the Metal Installation Manager.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Ability to manage multiple crews (4 or greater) or multiple projects.
•In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines.
•Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints.
•Ability to communicate and report effectively.
•Must be willing to travel.
Education and Experience:
•High school diploma, required.
•3+ years of experience as steel erection foreman.
•Computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Access, Google Docs, and Plan Grid.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
