Job description:
POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our Pioneer Generation Station in Williston, ND.
Operates and maintains the gas turbine and reciprocating engine generating units, all electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment, and additional plant systems.
- Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with safe work procedures and safety regulations.
- Maintain all Ammonia training in reference to Homeland Security and Risk management Plan.
- Perform preventative, scheduled and unscheduled basic maintenance and troubleshoot to solve station mechanical and technical problems.
- Monitor and accept all Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Day ahead market awards.
- Ensure all engines are started and stopped as scheduled to prevent economic penalties.
- Receive all calls from Basin Real Time Marketing for SPP self-commitments in the Market.
- Properly enter all outages and de-rates in the PCI software system.
- Operate the station within the environmental requirements and operate units from the control room.
- Implement or issue equipment clearances in preparation for inspection, testing, or maintenance. On return of clearance, inspect and return the equipment to normal operation. Follow prescribed clearance procedures, and assist with the development of new procedures, as needed.
- Perform ground maintenance (mowing, watering, removing snow), paints, and cleans buildings.
- Assist in developing operating procedures with corresponding Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and write technical procedures, update logs and reports on plant equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Completion of a certificate program or associate’s degree in Process Technology, Power Generation Technology or related; or
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 2 years of maintenance or operations experience in an industrial, coal-based/combustion turbine generation, or combined cycle generation power plant.
- A valid driver's license.
- Working up to 12 hrs. rotating shifts.
This position requires continuous sitting, standing, walking, climbing, and reaching; frequent bending, kneeling, and using keyboard/computer; and occasional crawling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision and hearing. Working conditions may frequently include chemicals and noise, and occasionally extreme heat, cold, dirt, and dust. The incumbent will also be required to work occasionally at heights up to 200 feet, which requires the use of safety equipment, including a harness, in accordance with ANSI Z359 standards. This position must be respirator qualified and able to operate a motor vehicle.
- Knowledge of plant operating procedures and equipment, including pollution control equipment.
