Job Overview
Assist the Manager to effectively support the development of strategies and work programs related to Isotopes. These strategies may involve human performance, improvement plans, corrective actions, staffing, scheduling and audit support.
Key Accountabilities
Working in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and regulations:
•Support development and providing inputs into work programs and business plans including reporting of costs incurred versus budget, communications and reporting on human performance issues.
•Support operational programs and strategies related to the plant systems and equipment using their expertise in assessing and monitoring the effectiveness of procedures, standards and practices.
•Analyze the effectiveness of Plant Status Control Programs, safety practices of energized sources, Corrective Action Programs.
•Be accountable to Manager, acting as a single point of contact for assigned work scope. Monitor performance in terms of progress and schedule, and discuss concerns regarding non-compliance, lack of consistency, best practices, etc., with pertinent stakeholders. Generate regular status reports.
•Using operating experience and the knowledge of industry best practices, identify, analyze, and prioritize deficiencies. Monitor the effectiveness of divisional procedures, standards, practices, forms, manuals, support documentation, etc. Recommend changes, prepare justifications, and prepare new or revised documents, as required. Carry out plant tours on a routine basis to assess procedures and standards are being followed, identifying non-compliance to same, implementing 'on-the-spot' correction and initiating a Station Condition Record (SCR) as necessary.
•Advise line management on long term system performance issues. Provide support and advice in terms of managing issues, which negatively impact on the capability and productivity of the department. Interface with various work groups to identify and trouble-shoot potential problems. Effectively contribute to the resolution of problems which, if not rectified, could result in liabilities to the performance and progress of the work; the planning of preventative maintenance measures; and the development of business process improvements.
•Facilitate communications within Operations organization, such as related to business plans, training, performance measures, and redeployment, to enable managers to communicate events and processes effectively with subordinates. Ensure information is passed on in a clear and timely manner.
•Participate on various operations work programs related to Human Performance, Improvement Plans, Corrective Actions, work program resourcing recommendations and Audit Support etc.
•Guide others assigned to special teams including but not limited to Root Cause Teams etc., supporting the work programs.
•Give guidance, instruction, and direction for work tasks.
•Report on project status.
•Maintain quality, quantity and accuracy of work.
•Subject to approvals and guidelines provided by Manager, assist with the roll out of new material, equipment, and programs.
•Maintain a working knowledge of applicable systems and programs and provide communications to all work groups in a consistent fashion. Provide technical assistance, interpretation and guidance, and attempt to ensure understanding and compliance to designated policies, plans and procedures. Ensure effective communication exchange at business meetings and reporting of feedback and course of events to Manager and stakeholders. Keeps abreast of advances in operational practices, technology, or equipment applications.
•Conduct or attend meetings associated with the work function. Represent Operations Department on specific issues within scope of accountability, as assigned. Promote and lead by good example, a conscientious work ethic with respect to safety performance and productivity.
•Provide input to short- and long-term planning initiatives, drawing on technical expertise and operational experience. Participate in the development, review and administration of the Self-Assessment program and Corrective Action program, analyzing and reporting on results.
•May be required to assign tasks to matrix staff, monitor and be accountable for certain phases of work programs. Corrective actions on deficiencies is the responsibility of the assigned staff’s direct Manager.
•Resolves work scope or procedural issues arising during work execution.
•Validates time and cost reporting inputs.
•Maintains stewardship of assigned tools, work equipment and facilities.
Qualifications
We are seeking dynamic and results-driven professionals who have the following:
•Experience, such as might be gained in a multi-unit nuclear facility, associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of same to become thoroughly familiar with assembly processes, testing and trouble-shooting procedures and maintenance, modification and repair techniques.
•Experience with the execution of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programs to acquire specialist knowledge of plant conditions as a basis for the maintenance function performance
•Experience to efficiently handle unplanned trouble-shooting activities associated with hands on work performed by maintenance personnel, and outages
•Experience to understand, apply, and utilize Operating Policies and Procedures, station reference plans, radiological and conventional safety procedures, regulations, legislation, work protection and Quality Assurance (QA) standards, communications tools, etc., as needed to effectively perform work function
