EthosEnergy is currently seeking Operations Site Technician for our facility in Quincy, OH. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Solar Technician to join our operations team in the Quincy, Ohio area. The Solar Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation and maintenance of the solar facility. Core duties include conducting regular inspections of equipment, facilities, safety systems, and environmental conditions, as well as performing or coordinating all manufacturer-recommended preventive maintenance activities. This role also involves troubleshooting and repairing site equipment as issues arise to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance. Key areas of accountability include safety compliance, maintenance scheduling, and effective resolution of technical issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of environmental regulations related to solar operations and familiarity with NERC requirements and industry standards.
- As a Solar Technician, you’ll play a key role in keeping the site operating safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all company and regulatory standards. Your primary responsibilities will include: Safety and Compliance Promote and uphold the company’s safety culture by following all safety policies and encouraging safe practices among all onsite personnel and contractors. Complete pre-job briefs and required safety documentation before starting any task. Support all NERC, environmental, and corporate compliance requirements, including daily, monthly, bi-annual, and annual reporting. Ensure all waste handling and disposal complies with federal, state, and local regulations. Operations and Maintenance Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain solar facility equipment including inverters, transformers, and balance-of-plant systems. Plan and schedule both corrective and preventive maintenance activities with the Solar Manager. Coordinate major maintenance activities to minimize downtime and revenue loss. Execute daily site monitoring and respond promptly to alarms or production issues. Administration and Reporting Accurately record all work performed in the company’s CMMS platform. Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly operational reports, including availability and production data. Participate in remote weekend monitoring rotations for self-operated sites. Collaboration and Communication Work closely with internal departments to share site data, support projects, and resolve issues. Communicate as needed with external agencies, contractors, and landowners. Assist with the initiation and follow-up of insurance claims related to site operations.
- Technical Skills: Electrical and Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot and repair inverters, transformers, and related solar balance-of-plant (BOP) systems. Understanding of AC/DC systems, low- and medium-voltage power, and basic control circuits. Preventive and Corrective Maintenance: Skilled in executing and documenting scheduled maintenance tasks per OEM and site requirements. SCADA / CMMS Proficiency: Familiar with using SCADA systems for real-time site monitoring and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for work order documentation. Instrumentation & Monitoring: Competence in reading electrical schematics, interpreting alarms, and performing diagnostics using tools such as multimeters, IR cameras, or insulation resistance testers. Environmental and NERC Compliance: Working knowledge of regulatory requirements around waste management, NERC reporting, and environmental inspections. Safety and Compliance Skills: LOTO and Electrical Safety: Demonstrated understanding of OSHA 1910 and NFPA 70E standards. Job Hazard Analysis (JHA): Ability to conduct pre-job briefs and identify site hazards before starting work. SPCC / Environmental Awareness: Understanding of spill prevention, stormwater, and waste handling procedures. Analytical and Reporting Skills: Data Interpretation: Ability to review SCADA trends, production reports, and inverter logs to identify performance deviations. Budget and Reporting: Basic financial understanding to support O&M budgeting and monthly performance summaries. Attention to Detail: Strong documentation habits, ensuring accuracy in CMMS entries, safety logs, and compliance forms. Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Cross-Functional Communication: Comfortable coordinating with Operations, Engineering, Environmental, and Compliance teams. Landowner and Contractor Relations: Professional communication when dealing with external stakeholders. Team Collaboration and Independance: Able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently under limited supervision. Preferred Certifications / Experience: OSHA 10 or 30 Electrical NFPA 70E training NERC awareness or compliance training First Aid / CPR Experience with inverter platforms Sungrow preferred Familiarity with GameChange tracker systems
- Required 2–4 years of experience in utility-scale solar operations and maintenance, industrial electrical systems, or power generation. Hands-on experience troubleshooting and maintaining high-voltage equipment, including inverters, transformers, switchgear, and tracker systems. Proficient in using SCADA for system monitoring and CMMS platforms for documenting preventive and corrective maintenance. Skilled with electrical testing and diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and infrared cameras. Demonstrated adherence to OSHA 1910, NFPA 70E, and environmental compliance standards. Preferred Direct experience with Sungrow 4400 UD-MV inverters, including routine maintenance, fault diagnosis, and component replacement. Familiarity with GameChange Genius Tracker systems (2.0/3.0), including troubleshooting of motors, controllers, and communication nodes. Experience working on medium-voltage (up to 34.5 kV) distribution systems and performing lockout/tagout and switching procedures. Background supporting NERC compliance activities, environmental inspections, and corporate O&M reporting. Understanding of plant performance analytics, production reporting, and preventive maintenance planning to support site availability and revenue targets. Prior exposure to vendor coordination, landowner communication, and contractor oversight in a solar operations environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school training in electrical, mechanical, or renewable energy systems preferred. OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, and First Aid/CPR certifications strongly preferred.
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology,
- Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is a plus.
- NERC awareness or manufacturer training on Sungrow 4400 inverters and GameChange Genius trackers is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain site access credentials required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks such as climbing ladders, working on elevated platforms, and lifting tools or components.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and wind.
- Capable of standing, walking, or kneeling for extended periods.
- Able to safely operate vehicles, hand tools, and electrical testing equipment.
