Job Overview:
The Operations Manager for the Oilfield Yard will oversee and manage all day-to-day activities within the yard, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, personnel, and logistics to meet project deadlines. The individual will lead teams, coordinate operations, and ensure safety standards are maintained across the oilfield yard.
Key Responsibilities:
Yard Operations Management:
•Oversee the smooth operation of all activities in the yard, ensuring equipment, materials, and personnel are properly allocated and managed.
•Develop and enforce yard procedures, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
Team Leadership & Supervision:
•Manage a team of yard personnel, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
•Conduct regular evaluations and performance reviews for yard staff to ensure high productivity and adherence to safety protocols.
•Ensure effective communication within the team, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
Safety & Compliance:
•Ensure all safety procedures and industry regulations are followed by staff, contractors, and visitors to the yard.
•Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure safety audits are performed to mitigate risks and maintain a safe working environment.
•Address any safety issues promptly and ensure corrective measures are implemented.
Logistics & Equipment Management:
•Oversee the scheduling, maintenance, and transportation of all equipment and materials in the yard.
•Work closely with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials required for operations.
•Ensure that equipment is properly maintained, inspected, and ready for use.
Resource Planning:
•Manage inventory control to prevent shortages and ensure timely ordering of supplies.
•Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
•Optimize yard space, storage, and equipment utilization.
Budget & Cost Control:
•Monitor expenses and ensure operations remain within budget.
•Identify areas for cost-saving and process improvement, ensuring operational efficiency.
•Work with senior management to forecast future needs and adjust operations accordingly.
Project Coordination:
•Work closely with project managers to ensure that yard operations align with project timelines and requirements.
•Ensure the yard is fully stocked with the necessary equipment and materials for upcoming projects.
•Help facilitate any special requests from field operations, ensuring they are addressed and handled efficiently.
Personnel Development:
•Mentor and train staff to improve their technical skills, safety practices, and overall performance.
•Create development plans to foster growth within the team and reduce turnover.
•Participate in hiring decisions and workforce planning to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Client & Vendor Relations:
•Serve as a point of contact for contractors and clients with operational needs related to the yard.
•Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely and quality service.
Qualifications:
Education:
•Relevant certifications (e.g., safety, logistics, oil and gas operations) are a plus.
Experience:
•5+ years of experience in oilfield operations, logistics, or related fields.
•Proven experience managing yard operations or large-scale logistics teams, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
•Experience in managing a team, ensuring safety, and meeting operational deadlines.
