Under general direction, uses advanced skills and broad knowledge and assumes responsibility for all networking activities and functions.
Plans, designs, and coordinates the various components of an enterprise network system. Designs and configures an enterprise environment with appropriate hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and communications components to support business requirements. Consults with users and program management conducting information assessments to determine user needs and to define network solutions to meet user requirements. Oversees daily operations of network systems for the company to ensure system availability. Conducts research and development in network systems and related technologies. Establishes methods and procedures for use of the network systems, including hardware, software, and communications devices. Works with company’s information technology staff to ensure the network environment is consistent with the company objectives and is compatible with existing applications and security requirements. Coordinates and ensures the standard implementation of policies, procedures and systems operations with support personnel. Develops and/or maintains up-to-date documentation for network software and operational procedures, including disaster recovery procedures. Analyzes and resolves network hardware, software, and communications problems using diagnostic software and/or technical troubleshooting processes. Evaluates and recommends network software and hardware for the enterprise system. Coordinates with management for the acquisition of and contracting for hardware, software, and information technology services (including maintenance). Conducts on-going network system audits to evaluate the utility, performance, and efficiency of the system’s hardware, software, and communications components and the effectiveness in meeting management information needs. Completes other job duties as assigned.
Senior Network Administrator (in addition to duties listed above)
The Senior Network Administrator may lead projects and assist with the training and development of less experienced staff. Evaluate, test & install application software and associated upgrades to VOIP servers. Provides telephone support to user’s telephone/network questions. Install, configure, support and maintain storage area networks and associated storage technology. Makes recommendations to improve security and participates in investigations as needed. Reports network security issues when appropriate. Responsible for cloud, M365, AI, and SaaS administration.
Knowledge of Cisco switches and routers. Knowledge of Fiber Optic networks. Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange products. Knowledge of Enterprise system monitoring and management tools such as Solar Winds Orion. Knowledge of fiber and copper structured cabling. Knowledge of network configuration management. Skill in using Cisco IOS. Skill in using Cisco enterprise hardware and software. Skill in installing and maintaining server hardware and software. Skill in using Veeam Products. Skill in working with the design, specification, installation and support of local and wide area computer networks. Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and contractors. Ability to work evenings and weekends in response to needs of the systems being supported. Ability to remain on call or standby for a reasonable period of time and to adhere to an on-call schedule. Must be able to maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Information Science, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field. Three (3) years of experience in working in a network support/network environment is required.
One (1) additional year of relevant work experience is required.
A valid Texas Driver License and a safe driving record as measured by company policy are required. Network certification (Microsoft/CISCO/VMware) preferred.
