Under general direction, performs advanced and professional technical work and is responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation and maintenance of systems hardware and related infrastructure of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
Installs, configures, and programs AMI Equipment. Monitors Head End System (HES) for AMI RF network performance and alarms. Completes routine preventive maintenance, including site inspections and RF testing. Manages, monitors, and troubleshoots equipment failure or environmental issues impacting read rates. Troubleshoots and resolves registration issues of new meter and endpoint installations. Completes other job duties as assigned.
SENIOR AMINETWORKADMINISTRATOR (in addition to the duties listed above)
Serves as the technical leader/project manager to develop a scope of work and plan schedule and monitors engineering activities for system upgrades and/or improvements. May lead factory acceptance testing of system upgrades or improvements.
LEADAMINETWORKADMINISTRATOR(in addition to all the duties listed above)
Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on all audits and design reviews for improvement or upgrade projects. Investigates, evaluates, and recommends hardware, software, or services required to repair, replace, enhance, update, or improve the AMI environment. Identifies opportunities for applying the AMI and automation capabilities to add value to the business and operations.
Lead and Senior AMI Administrator may provide leadership, work assignments, training, and guidance to less experienced staff. The Lead AMI Administrator may assume the responsibility of overseeing the department on an as needed basis.
Knowledge of operational characteristics of a variety of computer platforms, networking systems, software applications, and operating systems. Knowledge of methods and techniques used to install, test, troubleshoot and maintain PCs, servers, switches, routers, firewalls, and related equipment. Knowledge of network security. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of network protocols, (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, FTP, TELNET, Ethernet). Knowledge of cloud environments. Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Problem Solving skills. Ability to recognize the risks and dangers in the work environment. Ability to work during emergency situations. Ability to work evenings and weekends in response to needs of the systems being supported.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Computer Science/Information Technology or a related field and three (3) years of work experience.
Two (2) additional years of relevant work experience are required.
Four (4) additional years of progressively responsible work experience are required.
Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy.

Must currently possess a recognized network certification such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA or equivalent.
