Position Overview
Network Admin is responsible for managing and continuous improvement of New Gold’s enterprise-wide network infrastructure. This role is responsible for the end-to-end network environment, ensuring optimal uptime, and performance. The successful candidate will be a hands-on expert, implementing best practices to monitor, secure, and evolve a robust and resilient network architecture in line with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implementation of new networking infrastructure:
•Design, maintain, and enhance New Gold’s enterprise-wide network infrastructure.
•Work with Site IT and Network consultant to Design and implementation of LAN-to-LAN, WAN-to-WAN, and WAN-to-LAN communications and connections. Also, designs for control, flexibility, scalability, and adaptability.
•Evaluate new networking technologies, tools, and solutions to determine their suitability for adoption within the organization. Make recommendations based on performance, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with business objectives
•Define and enforce governance, compliance, and security policies aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
•Develop and maintain network documentation, including topology diagrams, procedures, and configuration standards.
Maintenance of existing networking infrastructure (including incident and problem management)
•Ensure 24/7 uptime of the network environment with minimal business disruption through proactive monitoring and incident response.
•Manage incident and problem resolution related to routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
•Monitor network health using tools like Zabbix and NetBox and implement automation strategies using tools like Ansible and Oxidized.
•Manage and secure perimeter and internal network components including Fortinet (FortiGate, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer) and cisco switches, Routers, Ubiquity and cisco Wi-Fi controllers and access point.
•Support cloud network integration, including Azure Hub-and-Spoke models, VPNs, and hybrid cloud connectivity.
Collaboration with security team for security monitoring and hardening:
•Implement and manage Network Access Control (NAC) solutions to enforce endpoint compliance and secure internal network access.
•Work with Infrastructure team to design and maintain RADIUS and NPS (Network Policy Server) infrastructure for centralized authentication, authorization, and accounting of network access.
•Develop and enforce network policies to ensure secure access for corporate users, contractors, and BYOD devices.
•Integrate NAC solutions with endpoint protection platforms, directory services, and SIEM tools.
•Collaborate with IT security and service teams to assess risk, plan remediation, and implement controls.
Qualifications
•knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
•Professional certifications or equivalent experience: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), Fortinet Certification (FCSS or FCX)
•Hands-on experience configuring and managing RADIUS-based authentication systems and Microsoft NPS.
•Demonstrated ability with deployment of 802.1X, EAP, and AAA (Authentication, Authorization, Accounting) protocols.
•Experience with Fortinet (FortiGate, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer), Palo Alto (including Panorama), Ubiquiti network
•Experience with setting up networking in Azure (Hub-and-Spoke, ExpressRoute, VPN and Firewall).
•Strong scripting and automation skills using Ansible, NetBox, Oxidized, and related tools
•Experience with network monitoring platforms (e.g., Zabbix, SolarWinds).
•Ability to contribute to network architecture and strategy while remaining deeply technical.
•Excellent documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Other Requirements
•50% Travel to remote mining sites is required.
•Willingness to be On-Call for critical incident response.
•Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
