We are looking for an experienced NETA Field Engineer with specialized expertise in protective relay and transformer testing to join our high-performance field service team. This role is critical in performing advanced diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power systems for industrial, utility, and commercial clients.
- Perform testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protective relays (electromechanical and microprocessor-based).
- Execute comprehensive electrical testing on power transformers including insulation resistance, TTR, power factor, SFRA, and oil sampling.
- Interpret relay settings and protection schemes; apply test plans using Omicron, Doble, or similar equipment.
- Develop protective relay settings for generator, transformer and motor installations.
- Analyze test results and provide technical reports with recommendations.
- Support system commissioning including energization of transformers, substations, and protective relays.
- Ensure all work complies with NETA standards, safety procedures, and client specifications.
- Provide technical mentorship to junior technicians and support project execution.
- Current NETA Certification (Level III or IV required).
- 3+ years of field experience with a focus on protective relay and transformer testing.- Deep understanding of protection schemes, relay logic, and one-line diagrams.
- Proficiency using test sets such as Omicron CMC, Doble M4000 series, Vanguard, and Megger units.
- Willingness to travel frequently to job sites, including occasional overnights.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience with SEL, GE Multilin, ABB, and Basler protective relays.
- Familiarity with SCADA and communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, etc.).
- Experience with VFD installations and test procedures.
- Knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and client interaction.
